    BHG fix cost.

I'd do it for $2000. Felpro gaskets set, head work, including valve job, new water pump., t.stat., and timing belt. New acc. belts, oil, Wix filter, and new coolant. If you want specialty parts(ARP bolts/studs, special coolant, etc.), the price would go up accordingly.

    block bump

Wow, all the good advice to have it checked... ignored. The block would be extremely hard to dent. If someone was putting that much pressure on it, I'd hate to see what the head looks like...

    torque wrench..

3/8" and 1/2" both Matco. Same quality/warranty as Strap-On. For the average civilian, I'd say get the craftsman, but I didn't know it only had a 90 day warranty.

    headlights screwy

There's a thread here(or on SF) where someone was having the exact same problem. Don't quite remember who it was, though. I'd check the plugs on the motors and make sure you don't have them plugged in wrong(don't think you can, but check anyway).

Yup, mine even works(not that I'd expect anything less).

    gutting the cat

Test it. No need to change parts that are good. Your car shouldn't have bad exhaust fumes with or without the cat. I was just pointing out some likely suspects. Cleaning/replacing air filters would probably help as well.

    gutting the cat

You're steps sound good. My 7MGE has a test pipe, and there is no stink. Has a little more noticeable condensation on certain days, but that's it. A good tune-up and properly functioning o2 sensor helps a lot. It does blow a little black smoke at WOT, but I'd rather it ran a little rich than...

Where do I hoist a short block with tranny at being in the car still?

Pull the trans. Bolt a chain to one of the top holes for the bell housing, and the other end to where the t.b. tensioner goes. If you look around on the sides of the block, there should be some bracket mounts that you can use as well. The higher the better. Either that, or drill and tap 2...

How do you know it's BHG?

There isn't any crusty oil build up in there holding you up, is there?

    na test pipe?

You could weld a piece of 2 1/2" or so inside the gutted cat so it looks stock. WOuld probably flow and sound better as well.

small temp spike on new engine

Might have been a little trapped air working its way out. Do you have degree readings on the gauges?
  17. cuel

    na test pipe?

3" flanges on the N/A cat. I used the flanges off the old cat, and welded a piece of 3" exhaust pipe in. Just marked it all out so I had the flange angles right.

Im a honda guy turning to a supra help me

Don't let the n/a haters fool ya. :) The n/a can be a lot of fun, and responds well to upgrades. No, it's not anywhere near the same as the turbo model, but it can be pretty quick. My brother drives a lightly modded '96 T/A, and has to work to get around my 87 n/a. He can't hang in the...

    starting issues

Why must people always try to start a car with a dead battery? Charge the battery, and make sure it holds a charge. If you don't have a charger, go buy or borrow one, or get a new battery. If you buy one(charger), get one with a 2 amp trickle charge, and leave it on over night...
