its a pretty straight forward swap. Have you tried search on the site. I am sure that there is some info on here about it.
Is your car an early 89 with the square motor mounts or is it a late 89 with the round mounts?
To make the sway easier, you need the later style sub frame (later round...
If his motor is a good motor, then go that route, cause its gonna cost you that much and more down time to redo yours.
Just reuse all your sensors and mount stands from your motor. other then that, they are the same
Ian (IJ) brought up a very good point about the ballancer slipping. I have had mine do that and have seen a couple of others do it as well.
An easy way to check this is to turn the motor over by hand and line the timing marks up @ 0, then get a really long something or another like a 10" 3/8...
well to make a long story short, anything that is not deemed 50state highway legal and smog legal, then it can get you busted.
A lot of items are actually deemed 49state legal, but are not legal in CA due to emission laws in CA.
Getting busted really comes down to how is checking and how...
The factory 225/50/16 cause a the speedo to read high.
I have 275/40/17's on mine and the speedo is dead-on according to both my GPS unit and the Highway patrol lazer gun
Balance shaft?
There is no balance shaft. What you are probably refering to is the oil pump drive shaft and no, it does not make a differance as to what position it is in.
I am not the most educated person when it comes to the MKII, but I do know that atleast the last year or two MKII supra had independent rear susp., and I do know that the 84 celica had a solid axle, but maybe some of the earlier MKII supras had solid axles
I dont think that it would be that bad of an idea.
The MKIII susp. would not be a direct swap and not worth the trouble. If anything, a solid rear axle from a truck would be a better swap. The reason for is that with independent rear susp., it is very hard to get anti-squat, but a basic...
I ran mine mostly like stock except that the return pipe (IC to TB) which went up through the original filter box snorkle cut out. this is probably the easiest way.
What IC are you going to be using?
Yes you can do it with an adjustable proportioning valve, but it may not be 100% effective. Also like I stated earlier, you are going to loose the use of the parking brake. Another thing that will help is choosing a lower coefficient of friction or CF # for the rear pads.
Just out of...
a proportioning valve does not send fluid or pressure to the rear first on a 4wheel disc setup. it is only combination/metering valve used on front disc rear drum setups that do this and it is not to prevent lockup, it is to allow for a small amount of pressure to overcome the return spring...
one other thing to chech when doing this is to stick a long 3/8" extension in through the #1 spark plug hole and rotate the crank and make sure that the bar is at the highes point when the crank pully lines up with 0. it the bar is at the highest point and it is not lined up with the 0 mark on...
Hey guys and Gals, I am trying to find someone in the tampa area that has a MKIII with the stock 91 / 92 5spoke wheels that I can test fit one of them one my car just for a second. My reason for asking is I am cusious if they will clear my front brakes. I am assuming that they will being that...
