110% Correct!!! If it was low on oil did you change it and see if the knock went away? Theres going to be small scratches on the journals you can't see that will kill the engine in about a week. Don't waste a good engine by skipping steps please.
Have to say it is rather ugly. When I read the title I assumed he made a custom bodykit to make it look like a Ferrari rather than a few decals and some crappy paint work. I do agree on the properly done two tone design would be kickass! Just my 0.02.
Ok I just recently rebuilt a 7MGTE using 7MGE pistons with a 1.4mm TMS headgasket and ARP head studs. It runs good and all but when I shut the car off overnight it leaves a small puddle of oil. I know how picky 7M's are when it comes to oil but I can't seem to pinpoint the leak (or actually...
Ok the guy with the 1UZ backed out on me so i'm now looking for another one. Also I started another project (1971 Renault R10 1300) that hasn't ran in 20 years...until today that was lol. I'll post some pics of the supra soon as it's in the shop getting a roll cage installed.
Ok so i'm still trying to take all of this in. I thought I could just make a plate port matched and weld around it to make a FFIM. I'd like the idea of the stack but like J said shouldnt the material be flush with the top to prevent turbulence? What about my back plate being edged to provide the...
Could I use an older throttle body with the idle screw? From what i've read the ISC just brings in metered air. Wouldn't the idle screw do the same thing? I can make the FFIM easily enough but I don't have the machines to make a replica of the ISC housing like on the stock manifold.
Ok i'm building my own ffim and i have a few question.
1. Do I need the cold start injector?
2. Do I need the ISC and if I don't how does it idle correctly?
3. If I keep the ISC is there any way it needs to be plumbed or just a flange? What about the check valve and rubber thing?
From a 1991 LS 400 or somthing like that. My friend and I are putting a 2JZGE in a gutted AE86 for drifting haha. I'm build the 2J and working on the 1UZ...i've got too many projects...
Probably but I can always add weight to lower my class. Luckily being a stock N/A when I started adding up points i was in the lowest PTX class. (FF or something like that...) The number shouldn't be too high my only problem is so far is getting them to approve the engine swap. If I can't be...
Ok guys today I continued to work on gutting out the car. It's almost complete with the exception of the carpet and driver side door panel. Heres some photos of the progress...
Ripping out the headliner:
Gauge cluster and center console removal:
Center console is gone...
Ok guys I have about 95% of the interior gutted. It rained all day and I don't have a garage. I'll take pictures of the progress tommorrow and post them. I called up the chassis guy and he's coming to pick the car up tommorrow. The 1UZFE still hasn't shown up yet though. Overall a slow day.
I got BHG 6 days after I bought my first supra. Paid a shop $1200 to fix it only to have a rod cap come through the block 6 days after that. From that day on I learned how to do everything by myself.
Lol at first I bought a 2J for the car but traded it for the 1UZ.
Small update...Heres a shot of the the turbo that will be installed:
It's a Holset HX40. I've been saving it for a long long time lol.
