I can say that the MT-90 has definitely helped. It hasn't ground once in 200 miles, all city driving and lots of stop lights. I still find it kind of odd that it's happier when it's cold, but whatever, it's very much driveable now. It's just a bit difficult shifting down in to 2nd still, but...
Yeah, I've driven it a bit today, and it definitely feels better (haven't ground the gears once), hopefully it will get progressively better over the little while and everything will be happy.
That's what I was kind of afraid of. That does make me annoyed that it wasn't replaced when the tranny was out before. How long is it to do a single synchro? Everything's been out and apart before, so I would expect it to go fairly smoothly *crosses fingers*. What should I do in the mean...
I'm trying to figure out something that's going on with my transmission. Basically 2nd gear for some reason recently is harder to get in to, specifically when the tranny has been warmed up (it's actually perfect when it's cold) and more so shift down in to 2nd. It feels like I have to pull the...
I'd echo pretty much everything that Nick said before me, only my car is definitely not quiet ;). I love the throaty growl that the I6 produces and the sound of the open wastegate venting to atmosphere under boost.
So give it a good spin and I should be able to get a Hz reading. Would that mean that I'd get a tiny amount of AC voltage? I took a quick look but didn't have time to go into it too much yesterday, but was just trying to find the connector for the sensor. It sits on the inside the engine bay...
Thanks a ton jetjock! I don't know why it didn't clue in to me to check TSRM for a test for some reason...I'll run through those as soon as I get a chance.
If you're concerned that it's on the way out pull off the accordion hose and see if you've got shaft play. The wheel on my turbo was starting to hit the housing on mine and I was still hitting 11 - 12 psi no problem though.
Does the car burn oil? Do you have evidence of oil going out the...
The part I replaced was the cast piece that bolts up to the ball joints, nothing more.
I think it's 43211 in this picture:

Otherwise I put in a new bearing and my old stuff back in.
You're saying I can test the wheel...
So here's the deal. I was going to do a wheel bearing that was long overdue and the bearing decides it likes life inside the hub so much that it didn't budge with the press almost maxed. Having put too much time in it already, I had to look for other options, so I went calling around to...
