Those are both good ideas guys, Safer too..:) I remember when they made the carb cleaner or brake cleaner non flammable and it did not seem to work anymore..
Never tried water though, that is interesting...;)
Also, if the hose trick does not work.. Just spray a small amount, stop and listen for change, No change? Then spray somewhere else with a small amount,, Do not spray in the direction of the plug wires or any electronics. (just around the intake parts...)
Keep a fire extinguisher handy..
Man, I thought I nailed it... :(
Mine looked exactly like yours except it was pissing out of the hose and just "looked' like it was coming from the head.. :dunno:
Pinhole right where the white arrow is...
I have had good luck chasing vacuum leaks with a 3ft rubber hose to my ear listening for leaks.. Also a can of something flameable like starting fluid or carb cleaner to pinpiont vacuum leaks. ***disclaimer>>>(be careful here as fire is dangerous) It will raise the RPM as it enters the motor...
I welded a piece of angle iron to bottom of my tow hooks so the point faced down \/ and built a mount for the IC to sit on. This gives the IC a solid mount with some curb/floorjack protection underneath.
Also gave me a nice line to connect the custom undercover.. :)
Edit: I hit a racoon...
I think of fluttering (cheek farting noise) as compressor surge.. So yes, it is normal if your BOV or BPV is too small and the compressed air can not vent the excess pressure fast enough. It backs up and out the inlet of the turbo and is forced out the air filter.. Mine does this at low boost.
Check the small coolant lines (x2) that go to and from the turbo and the head. Have it pressure tested for leaks. Any pictures?
^^ ya what he said.. :)
Again, just to clarify, are you saying you replaced your thermal fan clutch and shroud with an after market electric fan/shroud combo?
Did your new radiator come with a new radiator cap?
Any sweet smell in defrost mode inside the car when it is warm or is your passenger side floormat at...
Hmmm... The thermostat is important in maintaining an even temp for the ECU to function properly imo. Get a good one.. (dealer item)
What gasket are you referring to running without??
I asked a few other questions above that could be answered but I will let the other guys jump in here...
That could be a stuck thermostat. I know you said you replaced it, but that does not mean it is working properly. I usually force mine open a few times with my thumbs before install to make sure it is not sticky or feels rough..
You still need to figure out where the coolant is going...
I would find out where the coolant is going first. A lot of people here refer to the low coolant light(birdcage) as a BHG (blown head gasket) light. Not saying that is what is happening in your case, but you need to figure out where it is going..
How does your oil look?
Any white smoke...
