Idling only gets the engine to operating temps, not the rest of the drivetrain. I'll do it anyway on a cold day because I prefure to get into a warm car, but it's not ideal.

Different era and none of those are stock :p They do have their issues though, but they are probably the only affordable car with the classic car shape (jaguar, vette, 2000GT, etc)

Doesn't matter if they're cold, squeel is from slipping, slipping is from a worn out belt or from not being tightened properly. It's NOT normal.

Mufflers are usually cheaply packed with fiberglass leading to them not muffling down the line... If they're built like motorcycle mufflers (i.e. if the end caps are riveted on) they're rebuildable. Chinese exhaust manifolds and intercoolers are fine...

Heel toe is your friend, plus your gear ratio isn't helping (there's a reason NA's came with the 4.30's)

Pipe dream, most nuclear plants are government run (hiding costs) and they always run way over budget. If they were viable, private industry would fund them (and they won't). But that's really for another thread...

Cutting/welding around the gas tank isn't exactly safe... You'll also want a seal on that new access panel you made.

Even at that gearing, you run the risk of driveshaft failure. As IJ says, it's one of the parts that can kill you if it fails at speed...

High gearing, yeah, you should be worrying about it if you do top end runs...

Don't use WD-40, it will remove any old grease without replacing it, causing rapid wear. There's a reason it's used as cutting oil... But yes, it's old grease and cold weather. If you know what you're doing, it's not hard to disassemble, clean, and relube the assemblies.
