Honestly, of all the fluid fires I've seen on supras in junkyards, it's source was always from the power steering system leaking. Rest were electrical.
CPS isn't under oil pressure and oil drains out of the head faster than that, it's not going to spray like the power steering system will...
The Discovery is very basic and overpriced for it's name. I wouldn't go near it. Now if it was a Range Rover or Defender, maybe...
Fixing the BMW, maybe. I would talk them down on the price though as it looks like shit.
Except the release bearing hub stays straight on the input shaft and when you drop the tranny down it will leverage the diaphragm on the pressure plate. If you're replacing it, fine, but if not...
THANK YOU, I kept looking but couldn't find it, felt like a noob
True, but it makes it easier to unplug the window switch.
True, more than likely has to do with other things, but you're in there anyway. Usually the locks get a little screwy as well.
I'm going to disagree with the BOV and wastegate. I've known a lot of people that run the knockoff HKS wastegate, they just use real HKS parts in it. I myself have a knock off BOV that I disassembled and inspected. Little fine tuning and it's fine (plus the real one isn't made anymore).
4x4 + ice = still failing
Trust me, I know from experience.
Anyway, more on the SUV, many wear items will be more expensive (tires for example)
Compare:

Doesn't matter if you're doing the maintenance yourself. The cost of parts (lots of time items are sold ONLY as assemblies) and the build quality (i.e. not as good as Japanese cars) is what kills you.
OK, I worded the "gay" part wrong, SUV's are STUPID. They're not safer (no, they're just...
Code 31 after ruining his AFM http://www.supramania.com/forums/showthread.php?136372-car-is-running-super-rich
Two different threads, same issue, I doubt the cams are the blame at this point...
Not really, I know there is a write-up on these forums somewhere on it though...
Lots of small parts that have to go back in the exact spot they came from. I'm good at it, not everyone else is.
Depends on what tools you have at your disposal. If you have a load leveler, pulling the engine with the trans is easier.
The biggest issue with pulling just the motor is getting the trans back on. It's significantly easier to pull just the trans to do a clutch job, but much harder to pull...
It's how you're supposed to do it by the TSRM.
It's actually near impossible to do it the "normal" way on an R154 as you run the risk of bending the diaphragm.
