    my built 7m in my 89 mk3 or my 73 datsun 240z

Rusty Z's should be left to die. I've owned 3 of them, and all were "not too rusty" when I started, and "Woah...there isn't much steel left here" once I started digging. Don't get me wrong, I love a 240/260/280Z probably more than the common gearhead (as it evidence by the quantity of which I've...

    A340E - no reverse

I'd say testing the pressure circuit for the reverse clutches / bands is priority #1. If you're getting pressure than I'd blame either improper assembly, faulty components, or possibly a bad ECU/TCU...??? I honestly haven't had an A340 apart, but an auto is an auto at the end of the day. If you...

    DIY Coilover Rebuilding Q's

Tein actually does have a fairly respectable racing history....I think the biggest thing is that they are a foreign company without AS MUCH of a racing history as the others. Plus, the little bit of racing they have done has all been with pro teams. More "grassroots" representation would force...

    Shock dyno graph/spring rate advice

QA1 makes some nice stuff. With a little fabrication you really can't go wrong there. Obviously you'll be on your own as far as valving is concerned, but once you get the hang of it and play around with enough combination, you should be ok. I really would suggest getting some reading material on...

    Shock dyno graph/spring rate advice

The spring constant (i.e. lbs/in, kg/mm) has a direct effect on the loads which the dampener is required to slow down. The shock structure should be able to handle higher spring rates, it would just mean re-valving and/or using a thicker viscosity shock oil. One factor which will come into much...

    DIY Coilover Rebuilding Q's

Well Fox, Bilstein, King, and a slew of others obviously have it all wrong then. I think the only reason is because they consider the servicing of their products to be a valuable source of revenue. After looking again at the "check valve", I realized it isn't that at all...its the top of...

    DIY Coilover Rebuilding Q's

Since there is such a delay in posting a message in this part of the forums and it actually appearing, I have found some other things out, and actually pulled apart one of the Tein NA coilovers. Basically the NA damper (along with presumably all of their other twin tube offerings) is somewhat of...

    Shock dyno graph/spring rate advice

Well, to really delve into the specifics of what areas of a particular dampening curve play a part in various aspects of both driving/handing characteristics as well as suspension component selection, I think reading a few "primers" on race car setup is in order. I have a few books at home on...

    Shock dyno graph/spring rate advice

Very interesting discussion on the effect of valving (and graphs) in the real world. I think I need to build one of these cheap shock dynos. http://www.honda-tech.com/showthread.php?t=2415915&page=3

    DIY Coilover Rebuilding Q's

So I just acquired a set of Tein NA coilovers from a member here and am planning on a complete disassembly and rebuild. I have scoured the web looking for some Tein-specific answers and have come up with very little. What I do know is this: -Tein apparently does not support individuals who...

Project "so I have this widebody..."

With the amount of force that obviously went into both the front and rear sub frames during impact, I would be very cautious about taking this car any further. You have NO idea what those forces did to the remaining parts of both the sub frames, and the actual chassis. I would not consider that...

87 7MGE to 7MGTE build LOT OF PICS

You can probably fix the HG surface on the block yourself without doing much disassembly. If it were me, I'd go find yourself a place that sells cold rolled (CR) steel. Buy a 10" long bar measuring maybe 2"x1". Deburr the cut edges so you basically have a very flat piece of rigid steel. Use that...

    Differential differences

You might be right. I think it was the tag on the firewall that indicated the differential, engine code, trans code, etc. The special code for the 4.30LSD was there too No Tems or Headlight washers on my car, but it did have the leather interior (at least...what was left of a leather interior)

    Differential differences

My 87 N/A has the 4.30 LSD option...right in the VIN and everything. So I think its safe to say the LSD was optional in all years of the N/A. It would be specified right in the VIN... SG in NE.
