I say leave the stock fenders and possibly just roll them. Get wheels that are wide but have the right offset to fit in the fender.
I also voted for 1.5jz with some nice cams and your current turbo setup. I would go with a EMS like Stinger or AEM if you haven't already.
You're not putting enough heat into the base. Stick the iron onto the part itself and then put the solder on the heated part. Did you use any kind of flux?
and I didn't realize you're in Canada..opps... Damn, y'all don't have Autozone up there?? haha
I'm pretty sure I've seen someone on here do the 6 speed swap. They had a build thread. The shifter and its components have to be extended to make it fit.
Ouch..Before I read what you said I was actually thinking to myself "I don't remember there being a hole in my transmission right there"..hahah.
Hopefully he pays for the fix or new trans.
