After completely disassembling my car and partially re-assembling, it is safe to say that the weight is pretty evenly distributed about the various parts of the car. Weight loss could be achieved by replacing the bumper supports with aluminum, using lightweight suspension components (moreso in...
Tell the mechanic to go fuck himself. There are no more than 25 bolts to take off (4 driveshaft, 4 or 5 differential, and then 12-16 for the drive shafts, which easily retract) and the job can easily be done in under 2 hours.
It sounds like you weren't drawing enough blast media through the gun. I use our glass bead blaster here at work (5x4 cabinet) and it will clean the rust off of anything. Even my cheap sandblaster at home (using silica sand) works like a charm. My typical blast pressure is around 60psi for...
yeah, the diagram was helpful. Is this the exact setup you used on your own car? I'm debating going with the straight +12V mod or the dual relay setup. Did you notice a more stable operation of the pump at idle? This is where my pump was having "issues" with producing sufficient pressure...
the small wire on the starter is much easier to get to with the engine out of the car. Much swearing/wrench throwing occurred when i tried to install a new harness with the engine in the car.

I'm slowly installing the boring things, like door hardware/guts and moldings and such. I'm currently wiring grounding cables from the battery to the back of the car and installing new fuel pump wiring with a kill switch. I should have some new pictures in a week or so once i get some...
I'm going to be wiring in a bosch relay in place of the stock toyota unit, while maintaining the stock resistor system. I have looked at the diagrams of aarons, and just wanted to confirm the stock system operation before wiring everything up.
at idle/low throttle, the stock relay is...
80 lb-ft is simply a measure of the force needed to turn the bolt. It does not directly translate to clamping force. Friction between threads and the friction between the bolt head and the clamping surface have a significant influence on the actual clamping force of a bolt at a given torque...
