I suppose the proper term for the rack would be "remanufactured" rather than "aftermarket", but it is at least a more affordable source than the dealer.
"Rack and Pinion Complete Unit" is correct, should be just over $200.
Oh and for the pictures of the suspension stuff, it looks fine from the...
You can get an aftermarket rack, try http://www.rockauto.com, they are a forum vendor and have great deals. See here: http://www.supramania.com/forums/showthread.php?131276-RockAuto-New-Discount-Code
Also Advance Auto Parts has some pretty good coupon codes right now if there is one nearby...
Here is mine (standard fare carbon skin only):
Structurally, it looks like the same as what you have. I haven't transferred over any of the guts from the metal one but the mounting provisions appear to be all there just the same. I think it'll be a lot more apparent once...
That doesn't make much sense.
Mine bolted right in, though it is currently sitting in my hall closet while I work on the rest of the car.
I'll go check it out tonight as to how it's built.
Super Clean or Purple Power and a scrub brush also work pretty well at cleaning up concrete.
It'll be easier to see where the leak is coming from if you clean it up, then you can see what's fresh fluid and what's just accumulated. Either take it to the car wash or use one of the cleaners I just...
That doesn't sound good, my auto trans sounded like that before it started acting up. Then it quit shifting to 3rd and 4th so I decided that was a good time for the 1JZ/5 speed swap that I wanted to do anyway :)
I hope that's not what's up with yours.
Did you check the fluid level?
Haha I'm nowhere near the airport. About 50 miles.
I do recall reading about some fluidic ones from a newer Camry you could swap in so you have a bunch of small droplets like newer cars instead of a couple streams of washer fluid.
Actually you can have the ones off my old hood for $10 if you...
Looking good. If you need any stock parts, there's a clean '87 NA in the new Wrech-A-Part by the airport.
As for the sound, a mechanic's stethoscope might help you isolate it. They're only $5 from Harbor Freight.
What part of Austin are you in?
I like the Eastwood stuff. Tried the 3M 08883 which is supposed to be paintable and it has a great texture but it remained tarry in some spots. I have a hunch it reacted with the substrate but haven't investigated further.
Let us know how the 3M stuff works!
Small update -
Fuel cell box bottom is done. I was contemplating just leaving a hole for the sump to stick through but instead I decided to shroud it. The seams are sealed and the top side is painted.
I think I'll go with a FueLab pump and filters. Their pumps look like a great value for...
The fuel cell has a home!
Yes, it needs proper mounting, and yes, once I decide how I'm going to handle the filler situation (either leave as-is or add a neck behind the license plate), I'll build a lid to act as a firewall to the passenger compartment.
I ran out of gas...
Thanks all for the words of encouragement.
I've got the new front knuckles disassembled, just need to degrease, strip, and paint them then re-assemble. These were in much better shape, no hammer dents or damaged threads. The brake shields were even in good shape, though I won't be using them...
