Hi guys and gals :wavey:
I'm sorry to say the Supra hasn't seen much progress recently. Between getting married, home improvement projects, trying to sell our house, having an infant and now training a dog, things have been a bit hectic.
On a positive note, I'm finished with the home...
Mine is JZA70 also and had a "soft plug". It's not literally soft, it's like what is in the side of an engine block. AKA freeze plug. I pulled it out to install the sensor. Like these:

The brackets are definitely from a Supra, you can see LR-A on one of the pics, A = Supra Chassis. The subframe appears to be correct as well.
I know when I've dropped mine in, that last half inch was always a pain. Lots of wiggling. Hopefully you can figure it out, keep us posted!
It's not threaded, it's about 1/2" around. There is a threaded hole to the side that the bolt goes in but that one doesn't breach the case.
The ones without ABS just have a standard soft plug in there. Just measure the hole and you should be able to get one from most any parts store.
Looking good, keep up the good work.
x2 on the rebuild kit. They're inexpensive and good insurance. You should be able to get them from Toyota or from O'Reilly or Autozone.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the Scion unit internally amped? I know with my Camry I had, the internally amped units had different plugs than the externally amped units. With the externally amped units, the amp harness fits between the deck and the standard plugs. So the Scion...
Just realized I hadn't replied to this one. Sounds cool what they did with the Maverick. Did the keep the rear suspension that was installed when you had it? Any pics of it in its current state?
Thanks!

Having done it myself I'd say the interior is the biggest pain. Once you get to the glass it's not too bad.
Had the flu the whole 4th of July weekend so rather than work on the Supra like I wanted to I spent the whole damn weekend in bed. :3d_frown:
Got the rear knuckles assembled, the fronts will have to wait on some new hubs since the axle shaft threads are fubar'd thanks to whomever did the last...
Another one to consider that I haven't seen any Supra-specific feedback on is BC. They ring in at $1K a set, have a full 1 year warranty, after 1 year you can buy individual replacements for $95, and they have actual customer service that is highly praised. I'm thinking I may go with them...
To answer the first question, no they are not the same. You could run a 1JZ-GTE on a JDM 2JZ-GTE ECU since the sensors are the same, but the tune will be off. USDM 2JZ-GTE uses MAF instead of MAP so that is a no-go unless you want to add a MAF and the wiring.
Either way the ECUs and ECU...
Got the hubs and lower ball joints primed today. I ordered 6 cans of 3M 08883 that should be here on Monday, and the mandrel bends for my exhaust should be here on Tuesday. It's supposed to be nice this weekend so I'm going to try to get all the suspension stuff painted and some primer on the...
The undercoating came in the mail yesterday, and much to my dismay the place I bought it from substituted an asphalt based non-paintable undercoating for the rubberized paintable undercoating that I ordered. Now I need to send that back and order some new stuff. I had ordered Mar-Hyde 4311 and...
All suspension parts but the lower ball joints and hubs have been stripped and primed. I was going to try to get the hubs done without removing the studs (because there are 20 of them) but they're just not getting clean enough for me so tomorrow I'll tear those apart to clean them. The lower...
Sure, you can have the 36 seconds per day when I'm not tied up with work, baby, house, and Supra!
I got up early this morning and picked up a loaner 3-jaw puller from AutoZone. I should probably invest in some good pullers but I don't use them that often. Anyhow, it was brand new (refurbished?)...
The difference in posting your own black car or your own build thread is that it's the only thread about that car or that build. It's unique to that car or that build.
This on the other hand is asking for another tread about wheels on Supras. There's nothing unique about that.
Why does it...
