Jon's 1989 1JZ single turbo restoration and build: Stellllllaaaaa!

[June 7, 2018] Alright... lunch break summary. Got this in the mail from Singapore. Suzuki Samurai shifter locator bolt. There are two sizes, you want the "long" "early" one with the 6mm pin. The newer one is a flange bolt, shorter with an 8mm pin. One of the factory locator pins was worn and...

[June 7, 2018] Found some 550cc USDM injectors - waiting on those. If anyone wants an 11mm top feed 1JZ rail or cleaned and flow matched 600cc injectors (will also fit 7M), they will be for sale soon. I took advantage of the 20% off up to $500 eBay promo yesterday, and ordered: Godspeed...

[May 21, 2018] Please try to forgive my ADHD Turbo-Tacoma-Transmission-Injectors-whatever! I'm also trying to piece together a fuel system. I'm getting a bit frustrated with this part, honestly. I had sold the USDM 550cc injectors previously, and haven't found a good set to replace them with...

[May 19, 2018] Now that the RTV is cured on the tail housing, I set it upright and tried setting up the shifter. Not only does the R154 rear housing not bolt up, it is about 5/16" too low - it would require a shim. So...

[May 18, 2018] Not much progress on the Tacoma front, but I did pick up the transmission for the Supra. Installed the Toyota "R" bearing retainer and trimmed the input shaft by...

[May 14, 2018] After a game of Klotski yesterday, I got the drivetrain pressure washed. The engine hoist was in the shop behind the Tacoma, which was behind the trailer, which was behind the Expedition. Moved the trailer, pulled out the Tacoma with the Expedition, pushed it beside the shop...

[May 13, 2018] Here's what else is keeping me busy (other than 5 kids and a big yard) Back in March, I hit a patch of black ice which sent me sliding sideways off the highway and into a power pole. I am thankful that I kept the shiny side up and walked away without a scratch. The pole didn't...

[May 10, 2018] Got my turbine housing yesterday (overnightDHL parts from JapanTaiwan)! I went out to the shop at lunch and did a quick mock-up. Here you can see the "fixed" clearance issue with the front WG runner. Still waiting on my T3-T4 adapter plate from Taiwan. I bought a USA made...

[May 9, 2018] I decided to stick with the 1JZ, and may bump to 1.5JZ down the road. Sorry I don't have actual pics right now, but I'll throw in some links for good measure. I ordered a brand new AR5 transmission, with interim design change but I will be fabbing a bracket that will allow it to...

Prophetic, at least so far! A bit of an update for anyone who's still around. I am pretty bummed that this place has turned into a ghost town. Facebook might be handy to ask a quick question or sell something but it's all so ephemeral. These forums provide such a wealth of knowledge and that is...

    Dash/Door Panel Wrap Thread

Hi guys, it's been a while. I remember back in ~2008 there was a thread (may have been on SF) where a guy in Florida had a local upholstery gal make up some covers for his dash and door panels, I think they were charcoal alcantara with red stitching but I'm not certain. They looked really...

I think it would be OK. Your driveway isn't that steep. I would be most worried about stopping the car once it got into place. I would make sure to use something solid to stop the wheels once in place (or even better someone to work the brakes) and go very slow. It would be a shame to mess up...

I think I recall reading that the stock engine oil cooler doesn't have nearly sufficient flow for PS since it's not full flow. Between the intercooler and the AC condenser sounds fine otherwise though. That is where I would have mounted mine.

Basically, you should match the hose to the hose ends, but the -AN fittings are all standard. I probably have some of the ones you need to adapt the factory stuff to -AN. At least the fuel hardline to -6AN one should work, the rest may or may not cross over to 7M land.
