Has anyone ever seen a Supra MKIII or IV on Pinks. I watch this show
all the time and would love to see a well built Supra spank one of the
Mustangs you see on there all to frenquently. I have no doubt some of
you guys with your high HP Supras would do the brand proud----
There is also a slot in the hub of the rear rotors - use a brake adjuster tool to turn the star shaped link inside (they adjust just like old drum brakes) till the wheel does not turn then back it off 4-5 clicks that should do it---
I would like to rebuild my wiring harness once my JDM engine is ready to go
in. The partial harness (cut at midpoint along the firewall) that came on the JDM engine is in much better condition than the one in the car now. Is it possible to use the best parts (the connectors) and splice them to...
I have used this method in the past - works pretty much as stated.
The whole idea is to break in the rings to the bore with loading. I have seen engines with too easy of break in that just did not
perform. Short Full throttle burst (not to redline) will do the job.
I purchased a JDM 7mgte from Sunrise motors on eBay and so far after
the teardown it looks VERY good no blown gasket nothing low wear on
bearings , bores etc. It is being completly rebuilt as I am still driving the
Supra daily while this is being done. Paid $1170 shipped to the house...
Very clean, beautiful work. Hope to get mine in that kind of condition
with the new JDM buildup I am working on. Will be shooting for that
caliber of workmanship.
In 1976 I purchased a 1966 Corvette Coupe 327 350HP for $2700 fixed it up
a little and sold it about 2 yrs later for $4600 and thought I had done VERY
well, Oh well it would now only bring $30,000. Like some have mentioned
here (minus $1000) for each mod that is not orig or stock - that is...
Northern Tool co. sells a engine hoist (1ton) for $149 works great. Look under
Automotive tools at northerntools.com
They have some of the best values on toos I have found.
I will second that (as I have an 87 turbo) remember the 87 was the first
turbo and most everything was done right as not a lot changed over the
years. This was a VERY advanced car for its day.
Your right it's not I saying it is only if it was that destructive they would not offered it at all. The guy that built the Supra on OLD SCHOOL SUPRA
site (heavly modified) used one (on the streed) for 50K miles and noticed
no abnormal wear at teardown???
I intend to try one myself. Look at http://oldschool.supracentral.com/ see what he has to say about it
sound logical. Seems TRD made one for their race cars.
If anyone wants to throw vegtables at me for this opinion all I ask is that you
take them out of the can first.
In my supra it driped in from the targa top. Removed the top used lots of
silicon spray on the rubber - carfuly tightend the top per the owners manual
sequence and it stoped. (was in Orlando when Charley blew thru and it put
a half inch of water the the rear floorboard passanger side --
Thanks, for the replys - guess I will be looking for JEs or Weiscos better
safe than sorry. I understand that forged pistons will withstand detonation
better than the stock cast. Hopefuly I will not be testing this theory.
Whats the prefered brand - Weisco, JE, Ross etc. My builder says to
replace the stock cast pistons, are they that weak. I know they are cast
and not forged. Looking to produce around 400 whp--
