figgie - since I put the cam gears back to "0" and adjusted the timing (still around 17-19) :( I stoped building boost.
Cam pins were/are in the middle hole of the cams (see pic. above).
After installing the seals I doubled checked that all 3 timing marks line up and they were still good...
Well, I got them installed(cam seals), and what would you know, no more oil leak :) yippie skippy. I still have no idle, no vac. and some times when idleing (or should I call it "surging" between 600-1500 rpms) it revs up to 4k and sits there!!! I am about to give up on this car.:( I am...
Well I just found out why there was oil leaking/spraying out behind the cam gear. MY ENGINE BUILDER, JIM HALL FORGOT TO INSTALL THE CAM SEALS ON THE HEAD!!!!!!!!!:3d_frown::3d_frown: WTF, WAS HE SMOKING :nono::nono: I know every one
Well I picked up 2 here quick and I will install them...
Shane, what are the end two rods? I am guessing the first two are Stock toyota, the third is Eagle H beam. one a crower? I like you pic. for referance so I am kind of interested in the end two.
1) I know the the head is straight, I ask my engine builder about that he machined it flat after the port and polish.
As for the intake manifold I don't not believe so. I spray starter fluid around where it meets the head and the engine revs up ever so little. So next I have to remove it and...
I will re-spray ether (starting fluid) on the intake and see what happens. I think the flang on the FFIM is still bad :( I have been trying to pin point the oil leak (witch I found, intake cam seal) and getting the gauge cluster to work, or some what work the last couple days so i have a idea...
Ok i made some progress, I hooked a wire to a10 then to a switch 12v source, and now the tack and oil pressure work. Sweet around 38 psi at cold idle ( just below the 40 mark) I am guessing that the gauge cluster PCF is differnt b/c there isnt even a oem wire in that spot of the plug. Also...
Nope no volt meter Boost meter still installed) I just know where to ground the 12 volt gauge in the swap.
FYI: blinkers on cluster are working, along with ABS, and door open.
Well I am going to trouble shoot some more tonight, but if i dont get it, I think I am going to buy a...
Ok I located the ground point for entire cluster (white w/ black stripe on A #8) on back of cluster then check voltage to yellow wire and yep there is power (12vDC) when I turn on the switch. Also check the screw that has a ground for 12V gauge swap mod. and there is ground there also.
Now...
we need more info. Any mods.? Recent work engine work? What do you mean "hooked vacuume system up"? Just replace the engine? You hook a aftermarket vac. gauge for correct readings? How many inHg?
What is your setup?
We need lots more info.
What is up with the goverment setting top speed on cars at 112 k. thats only 70 mph :( sucks to live in Japan and buy a new car. You have to mod. it right away lol
Also youtube it. there is 4 vidoes for the whole thing
Nope I have since sold it to another member that liked the glow gauges. This is a new to this car oem cluster.
Razoe - ^^^
Jetjock - The letter on the back of my cluster is "DD" That is located right aboue the speed input, (green Knob thing with greese on it) Is this the correct...
Pull the CPS about half way out and turn the center about 1 tooth and reinstall it.
FYI I am having the prob. First I go to far, 15 degrees or so then not far enough, 5 degrees or so. Just have to find the sweet spot.
Dose any one have a pic of the PCF or a pic of the back of the gauge cluster so I can compare the two? I just got done looking throu my cluster mk3 pics and reference pics. but do not have any of the back of the gauges. :(
I thought I read some where they were all interchangeable form...
