the plugs are going to be different if its a late 89 (look at the ECU that gives it away, plugs are either yellow or grey)
different ECU's (top is 2jz bottom two are manual and auto 89+ and yellow one is the pre 89 m/t) and body plugs are just as different, check the TSRM for the mkiii they...
i never adjusted the pedal LOL.. i needed to badly.. and it was hard to drive with the short shifter killed it a lot very very notchy. trying to fix everything else at once and i put it off for when i was going to put my clutch on and tune it but just $$ i didnt have and thanks for the words...
i can think of 3 quick areas.. the tail and (and darn it i cant remember if it is the same as the r154) the fill/drain "pluglike " bolts can get warped and leak.. (tightening it too hard)
its possible you might be leaking oil from your rear main as well.
