Why don't you put the resistors in place of the existing ones? For blue you would change the resistors to incease the output voltage as the stock setup is generally lower than what most blue LEDs take to power on. Putting higher value resistors may turn off the LEDs completely.

When I took my dash off the LEDs were white with green sleeves over them.
Are those the factory LEDs or has someone replaced them at some point? Anyways I removed the sleeves and put them in as white and it looks good IMO aside from a few hot spots. Maybe I will tint the bulbs or use a cooler...
