Moy - Look into Peterson Fluid in line oil filters. They have a stainless steel micron screen inside that you just take out and wash and come in many different micron ratings. They are normally used on dry sump systems but will prob do what you are looking for.
I look at new 7m clevite bearings everyday. 95% of them are NDC bearings. Some of the odd ball undersizes maybe ACL or Federal Mogual. I have NEVER seen a king bearing in a 7m clevite box so lets not start another internet tale.
Nearly All OEM toyota oil shaft bearings are over sized and need to be cut down for the shaft to fit. I made a tool to do this from an old oil shaft. Just treat the bearings as if they was a piston bore. Hone or bore them to size, don't do it by hand as it will be out of round at best. Dura bond...
As nick said, 9:1 is not even close to something to worry about. There is nothing but benefits for a near stock motor with 100% correct tune and maint. to run some higher compression.
Every 7m owner really needs to ask the forum for a reputable shop prior to dropping off the work. For the life of me I can not understand how there can be so many poor shops out there.
I made my own boring tool for this job out of an old oil shaft with a driver that attaches to the fron of the oil shaft. You could use a small stone type hone.
7M King's are junk. Acl is a little better. Send those back and demand that you get what you paid for. They prob did not consider anything at all other than what they had in stock and what they did not.
NDC bearings in the clevite box are the only bearing proven to hold up under extreme power...
to add to that, the "undersize" refers to the crank. A bearing advertized as +.25mm is for a crank that is ground and finished to an undersize of -.25mm
What does your shop meen when he saysit is 60 thou out? Journal size? Straightness? I have seen some pretty bad cranks in my day, but needing to go .060 under on a rod journal to grind a crank I have never seen. YES your crank journal can be welded and machined back to a std size, but the cost...
You may want to check the psi on the valve springs also. What is the guy asking for the motor? And is it a complete turn key motor or just the long block?
