If your not confident of doing it by hand then do not polish the crank pins by hand Kai, "should be" done on a special machine. Any crank shop can do this and you could try to post the crank to them if it is too far to drive. Then they could measure all the crank pins for you as well in several...
That was a dura bond bearing set. They do fit most times without needing to size them. The OEM bearings come slightly over oversize and most times need to be sized. I have a pic of the tool I made in "members rides".
I always say the same thing. You do not always see deflection when installing arp main studs. Many times it will not change anything. I have found over time that main caps with a tighter interference fit, tend to move less often than looser main caps. I tend to aline bore and aline hone often...
Someone should make a sticky of any shop proven to be able to machine our motors. Freight on a motor is only about 180 to 200 each way to most anywhere in the country. So the price to send your motor out to get a proper job is only limited by the extra 400 bucks to send it out. But for some...
Very reason I turn down many jobs. Some customers want "half ass" work done to fit a budget. Some customers "think" they know what is best for their motor and don't. If I can not do the job the correctly as it should be done, I just tell the customer that I would rather not do their motor. If...
Thats not what I ment at all. You can only bore a block so many times before you run out of material to open it up too. Going from std directly to .040 oversize is skipping two potential future rebuilds.
Seth, I second what IJ said. No need to o-ring any part of the 7m. Gary is running 1400 RWHP on the Malta 7m with nothing more than a hks 2mm stopper and off the shelf ARP studs.
Andrew - for a 34mm valve, you would need some serious cams to make use of them. With a big lift, valves of that...
Here is a shot of the tool I made to cut the oil shaft bearings to size.
New oem oil shaft bearings cut to size with the handy home made tool. Only problem is it makes them looked used once you cut the bearings. Had a few customers in the past think that the bearing was never changed...
Seth - I had CP custom make pistons for me and I will post a pic. Many piston manufactures make an un-finished dome piston so that you can cnc mill what ever you want also.
I always raise the compression on 800 and up HP motors. 8.8:1 up to 9.2:1 usually. Custom pistons.
It is not the compression ratio that makes detonation anyway, it is the cylinder pressure.
