    engine burning oil is usually blue, turbo is white due to heat, bhg can sometimes be white also but usually more grayish

    white usually means turbo seals but it can be other things too, some investigating is in order

    you can test for vacuum, vac gauges are very cheap

    also try taking the valve off and cleaning/replacing it, years of gunk might have it gummed up.

    yeah, the trick is making sure everything is super clean I can't believe I'm almost advocating this repair for the kid and his crank but wth he's got nothing to lose

    I had an Opel Kadett that kept shearing flywheel bolts (all 6 at a time) I glued it all together with that stuff, bolts and all, never did come back apart:naughty: the trick would be getting it on straight if the end of the crank and the balancer is all wallered out

    I think you know you're screwed, it sounds like you can't do it the right way atm.... in absence of the ability to do it the right way, I suppose you could weld (not jb) the key in, carefully grind to approximately get it right, bang the pulley on and cross your fingers.
