sounds like fuel cut which is a good thing but you should check your codes just to be sure there isn't something else going on

the worse thing in the world you could do is to just arbitrarily adjust your fp, please take steps to analyze how your car is running and adjust/tune accordingly..... they all are different

my guess is combo of heat and deposits causing it, I'd take it apart, look at it closely and go from there

these things aren't rocket science. Did you follow a proper break-in procedure? Supporting mods and a good tune? A xj motor isn't going to help any of that.

you need something, if not a wideband use a cheapy a/f ratio gauge so you at least know if you are in the ballpark. safc only adjusts your idle and wot, a must but probably not causing this problem

I say rich also, do you have anything to tell you a/f?
