Okay. Spoke to him, with... err.. not that great of results. He wound up trying to tell me my problem was something else altogether.
I think I'll hand it over to a machine shop and let them deal with it.
Yeah, that. It's underneath the valve guide bushing. If I'm going to replace that bushing (such as having the head rebuilt) can I re-use that ring, or where do I get new ones? I'm going to need 24...
I'm planning to change the valve stem oil seals on my '91, since it needs to be done and that puff of blue smoke is a little bit ghetto.
Problem is that when I look at the TSRM, it tells me I need to also replace something that's just called "Snap Ring". It's underneath the Valve Guide...
Like Wayne said, it's a lean condition. The exhaust is way, way too hot. If the engine were running pig rich, the exhaust probably wouldn't be hot enough to make the mani/turbo glow.
That tool looks like it will extend somewhat into the area you're putting a seal on. At the very least, it's not socket-shaped. Judging from that and from souprat's reply, I'll have to say that I don't think the tool will work for the main seal.
I don't know how they do things in Awamya, but around here questions like that can be very easily answered if you bother to read other threads at all. There's plenty of people with that much horsepower and more who discuss what they have on their cars. Bother to search a little bit and you might...
I once had an '89 Targa that wouldn't crank properly. Bought it for $400. Replaced the starter that had been burnt out and did some other little things on it. Couldn't find the time or resources to fix it quickly, so I sold it for just a little more than I'd put into it, a total of $800. Bought...
I'm thinking your best option, in terms of practicality and legality (mantraps are illegal outside of South Africa, as far as I know) would be the inexpensive alarm with radar/microwave sensor. That IS what they're for after all.
Since this is an NA engine and big power isn't in the plans, seems to me you could get away with running ARP head bolts instead of studs. They cost less, and it's easier to get the head on.
Err. Shouldn't it be the ROTM for June then, and we just submit our entries in advance? It seems kind of strange to me to be displaying May's ROTM when May is over.
Maybe I'm just odd. Sorry for the semi-off-topic-ness.
Never driven a semi myself, but my dad spent 8-10 years driving 'em and says that even back when he was driving, you could hit the trailer brakes separately from the tractor brakes. Brakes in front = jacknife, maybe. Brakes in rear = not nearly as likely. I agree with Yellow13, wtf didn't he...
Light above the coin holders?
Does it resemble a bird cage or the front of a museum? If so, then your coolant reservoir is low/dry. It's actually a picture of a radiator, but it looks like all kinds of other things to people.
E85 is that new gas they're talking about. It's 85% Ethanol, so it burns a lot cleaner than regular gas if your car is equipped to run it. Higher octanes too, but unfortunately it gives less mileage than gasoline except for a couple cars that somehow do better with it.
