HAHAHA I have the same dents in the same places too!! Though not nearly as bad. The one in my rear quarter isn't all that noticeable from faraway just until you get up real close to it.
I went through this very choice last April. I decided with my 1JZ because it came with a R154 transmission, and a 1JZ bellhousing. Also, I got a ride in a 1JZ car and loved it (this really helped me make my decision). My car was a turbo auto with a w58 swapped into it on my 7M by the previous...
I would do a VVT-i 2JZ if I could. As THMotorsports said, they're a lot more difficult to tune but the fact that not everyone on this side of the world does them along with how much more the VVT-i gives you, it's just better IMO.
I luckily drive my supra through the snow, rain, ice, and sunshine. But next winter I plan on parking her for the winter months as the winters do take quite a toll on our old darlings. I can't imagine how much it's gonna suck. I couldn't drive my Supra for 3 weeks while the shop did my 1J swap...
Your best bet IMO is to get a nice clean, straight body NA car and rock the 7MGE for a little while. Save up money for a 1JZ/2JZ-GTE & R154 swap and then go ahead with that swap using all the correct parts spending money and doing things the right way the first time.
That's the mistake most...
I had a DP that had the 3" elbow included as a part of the DP itself. Previous owner had it made, and it was an awesome piece. Unfortunately I sold it back in April when I went 1JZ.
Go with a 2JZ-GE. Like most have said earlier, it's going to need to be reliable. Driving a turbo car through college/university is not an easy thing, I did it and FML do I ever wish I didn't. Get something NA for the time being, just so you can get through college with a nice reliable and FUN...
Definitely get a Koyo. There's a reason why Mishimoto puts a lifetime warranty on their rad; Koyo's is 3 years (I think? Correct me if I'm wrong). GrimJack's Koyo popped a little while ago after god knows how long running at 550+WHP being DD'd.
On the other hand, you could possibly get a rad...
I'm running Bosch wiper blades on my MK3 (which now has a intermittent wiper setting anomaly soon to be resolved) and they work great. Living in a rainy ass city like Vancouver, you need something that really cleans the oil/gunk as well as the rain off the windshield. Mind you, I've never tried...
