i finally broke down and bought a timing light, looks like my plug wires or coil pack are bad, the light is very intermittent... it does not blink at a steady pace when cranking it. ill see if i can try diff coil packs and wires.
so an oil change and new plugs later, still wont start but i did throw a code 14.
*update* code 14 is gone now cuz i changed ignitors. still wont start but no CEL's..... im stumped.
yea im reapproaching it again tomorrow morning. my bother came by to give me a hand w/ the starter. it cranks fine now. i redid the ground on the intake mani, and cleaned off the plugs. there was some gas in the cylinders im guessing from the shitty gas not igniting, so i cranked it for a couple...
still got the engine? if so where in maine are you located? my parents have a house in bridgton i could stay at overnight so the drive wouldnt be too bad.
lol, comon guys, gimme some credit here. i DID do reasearch before i took on this project. im using the 87 turbo m/t harness with the 87 turbo m/t ECU, and the turbo AFM out of the 87. same with the igniter and whatnot. i basically took the whole 87 engine bay and put it in my 89 chassis...
i just plugged it in. apparently early 89's could plug into the yellow plug ECU. now i dont even know if the engine is pre 89. the t-stat housing looks like its from an 89+.
theres a lot of things about this car thats aggrivating me (no ABS, cruise control, missing plugs, etc).
now i gotta...
eh? im all confused here.
im sooooooo fustrated right now, i have to take the starter off cuz i think its bad. the wires going to it have continuity but it doesnt crank.
how much you guys think it would cost for me to drop it off at a shop and tell them to get it running for me? i need this...
i adjusted the TPS, read on a couple older threads and saw that if i dont turn it all the way back when bolting it in it will throw code 41, so i back the screws out a half turn and adjusted it. cranked it for 5 seconds then pulled codes, everything was clear. 30 mins later i crank it for 10...
haha ya, but you got the good part lol.
ok so i MUST be killing you guys even more now....
code 41 went away, now throwing code 12. however its not cranking right now.... not sure if the batt just went dead or what.
lol believe me if it did you guys would know. :icon_bigg im really hoping the TPS is the problem... im gonna drain all the gas tomorrow and go get some fresh 93 (bout 5 gallons) now that i finally got paid.
*edit* doh i didnt even see that i put cps as opposed to tps in my previous post... my B.
so i went ahead and put the other ECU in (yea yea i know....) and i have a code 51. YAY!!! :3d_frown:
so ill be checkin out the CPS a lil later today. any tips?
i just used the multimeter probes as if i was jumping it.
i tried grounding out E1 at the ecu and it showed no continuity. ill try again tomorow just in case.
