coming up on the big 25 and:
still paying of the school loans
realizing a BA is not enough
hangovers suck
the coffee is never strong enough
and how on earth am i going to pay for grad school
Truth be told, its your life. The grass always seems greener, but i often see its because of the mounds...
I used a fan set-up from an SVT Contour. It pulls some big amps with both fans going, but with the correct fan controller it works real smooth. check out my review of the fans in the review section.
geezer reminded me of something...buy some decent tires! wide rims and a lot of rubber is a waste of time if the rubber is hard as a rock or useless (anyone that has ever driven on kuhmo 711's or 712's knows exactly what i'm talking about). and if you drive mostly freeway (or around town) with a...
leave the cat in. If your going to replace it with an aftermarket 3" spend some money and get a decent one, or you will be replacing it the next time smog rolls around (aftermarket cats only have to last 20-25K or 2 years via EPA regs vs factory cats, which is 5 years/50k). This also somewhat...
the efans come from 93-97 (iirc) v6 models. the SVT and SE V6 use the same fan set-up. To make it fit, i needed to cut a little above the lower outlet so the shroud would sit flush. I also drilled two holes in the shroud for mounting to the rad. nothing a dremel and a little time couldn't...
First off, when setting the temp switch for the fans, do it before the thermo outlet. all water post thermo has heat from the turbo cooling lines, therefor is not a very accurate representation of what actual h2o temp is.
second, get a true fan controller. I got one made by SPAL (see the...
or if your using a smaller battery than stock, slide it between the battery and the fender support (i use an optima). i had to move mine to install an IC block-off and new horns (stock suck anyway)
I have JIC flt-2's (stiffer than the a2's, springs are 14/10 in think). they are 16 way adjustable, independent height and pre-load adjustable. They are stiff (no lies); i have the shocks set 12 clicks (front) and 10(rear). I also have about 3/4" cut off the bump stop all the way around (to...
easy shock test:
push down on the corner of the car (any corner), if the movement is more than 1. up (rebound) 2. half down 3. settled (stopped), then there is a good chance your shocks are done. the explination i gave was on the springs only, the shocks play just as much of a role (much like...
think about the trade off between progressive (eibach) vs linear (b&g, most c/o's) spring rates. a linear spring maintians its rate throughout compression and rebound (obviously at coildbind and full extension there are variations. lets apply the KISS method here :biglaugh: ) it doesn't take a...
I'm surprised no one mentioned A-arm bushings....this can account for the turning clunk and vibration. I would imagine you would have seen this durring the ball joint replacement, but definately worth looking into.
most glass packs (traditionally) are louvered, not perferated. this causes a lot of tumbling of gases, giving it that distinct sound. bullet type mufflers use a perferated core w/ either steel wool or fiberglass matting (IMO look and sound like ass on a 7m by themselves) but make a great...
two things to try:
install a check valve in the heater hose running from the head to the heater to create a low pressure area for air to escape when filling up w/ coolant.
install a good thermostat. I'm using a high-flow Ford motorsport thermostat from a 4.6. The design is a little different...
turning and spool doesn't mix. but a spool is very good for drag, as it keeps the tires spinning at the same speed. also, because it is solid (no moving parts), it is more durable than an lsd (again, for drag only). Hope this helps.
regardless of what you decide here are some things to keep in mind (not trying to discourage, but it never ceases to amaze me how many people don't get this):
coil-overs are a very good tuning tool, for those that want to tune their ride to fit their driving needs and styles. on the other side...
