No I meant if you stepped it down from a 60-1 to a 57 trim ct-26 with a double ball bearing setup. Do you think that would hold up better than the 4 60-1s you built? A 67 in a ct is just asking for shrapnel in your motor.
Aaron what in the ct's oil system destroyes the bb's? If the 60-1s were destroying themselves what about a 57 would that hold up any better? Im drooling over shaeffs description of his monster, even if its self destructive one can dream
I agree altitude plays a huge role, even on stock boost seattle at 50 degrees was lots of fun compaired to 75 at 2000 feet in spokane. Look at true bar conversion altitude and temperature are actually factored in.
Thats what you get for listening to toyota service techs. The first supra I ever worked on was owned by a guy I worked with. It threw a code 52 occasionally and when he had it at toyota for something unrelated we asked and both techs said a 52 would come up if the engine had predet or if it...
40 at 6k sounds about normal, 1st is just to get you rolling not a speed gear
hissing= boost leak
but you wont make boost at idle so start looking for a vacume leak. You could also hook a gauge up, wont be definative but might give you an idea of how big the leak is.
Well for 280 you could buy a rebuild kit for the 15x,xxx and still be a under 550 but then you have to rebuild it, or pay someone to do it. There are alot of presses and stuff required to do it yourself and a shop would probalby charge around $400 for parts and labor to do it. something to...
It could have been from quite a while ago, the ecu stores codes until they are cleared. The two could be competely unrelated, what was the temp & weather like and how long had the car sat.
If you forgot to plug the the afm in and tried starting it it would throw the afm code and store it. If it was running ruff that alone could have tripped the knock sensor, so that is probably a symptom rather than part of the issue.
This is the shop at the begining of this winter, way to many project in too small a space.
Heres pretty much what it looks like now. Did some clean up and moved the silver benz out so I had room to pull my motor.
And the dedicated supra shelf
The Boat will be gone come spring...
Thats what I meant. Its build not to slip into first over 10 or so miles an hour unless you rev match. It could still be your sincro if it grinds, usually it will just restist slipping in. First is pretty much a from a stop gear IMO, most people done know what rev matching is, or they ride gears...
Thanks, nice to find another supra owner in pullman, I'v kept my eye out since Iv been down here and havent seen any around but then again it is winter.
I didnt have much time to work this weekend, I did pick up 2 9000lb 2 post lifts and an 8000 4 post!:naughty: So I guess it was time well spent. How nice would it have been to have them from the get go on this build. I cleaned the piston tops and cylinders but the head is definatly going to take...
Does anyone have firsthand experience with either the Driftmotion steel cased motor mounts or using MKIV mounts in our cars? I have searched and didnt get anything. I dont want to give up any ride quality as my car is a daily driver. Both my mounts are shot and Im looking at either the...
I dont want to hijack your thread, but has anyone used the MKIV mounts? I was contemplating the same thing after seing the pre 89 brace. Both my 89 mounts are torn but I dont want to gain any added vibration and wondered if it would be worth the time to build a brace. Can anyone compair the...
Made the trip home and got a little work in this weekend. I had to work all day saturday so I stayed up till 2 in the morning getting the motor on a stand and pulling the crank pulley, lower timing cover, timeing belt, head and pan. The arms on my engine stand wouldnt reach the upper two...
So the build, has hit the roadbock I have been dreading. I moved 80 miles away from spokane to Pullman to go to school. So as of now the car sits in my shop with the motor on the stand awaiting this weekend. My rate of progress is going to virtually stop for a while as I will only have weekends...
