I thought you said anything over 5psi it vents, which would mean something is very wrong, my bad. No need to get worked up we are trying to help. How loud is it because a little surging at partial boost is something you might have to just deal with. You can adjust it to get the best results but...
you dont want your bov to be venting while under boost, you want it to vent as soon as the throttle body is closed. Have you checked for shaft play on your turbo? It shouldnt make that noise while boosting:nono:
So the Motor is at the machine shop, One big step out of the way. Hopefully the machinist will be able to get to it soon. Im hoping to at least get the motor and tranny ready to go back in over spring break, which starts friday. I need to find the quickest and cheapes place to get a cometic head...
The worst part of only getting 1-2 days to work every 1-2 weeks is cleaning becomes the last priory. So I had to take some time and do that this weekend
I forgot how much easier to work in a clean shop
This is the cleaning stage of the build. Got these parts prepped for paint
Shined...
I was just trying to get the obvious out of the way first. Plugs in= fighting compression. You can pull the head with out removing the harmonic balancer but you cant take the lower timing cover off with it on. So its a trade off as to which you prefer; Taking the timing belt off the cam gears...
I personally wouldt waste the money on a new oil pump until I had checked the tolerances. You may find perfectly good is understatement for your pump. just my two cents
Made it home this weekend. This is the least fun part of any build, The Cleaning!
Who doesnt love coming home to new parts, its like christmas every weekend!
Heres a shot of the head surface and CCs after somecleaning. If you scroll back to before you'll notice the huge difference...
I have been running 75-90ns in my tranny which is what the tsrm but am getting ready to change it again. does mt-90 really make that big of a difference? Is the thicker oil just better for the tranny?
If you trying to get banned your off to a good start. IJ quit getting in pointless one sided and poorly backed verbal confrontations with people:sarcasm:
actually the opposite. no clip will give you faster spool than 5 but sometimes it is necessary to to prevent out flowing the exhaust housing. Somtimes the wastegate cant vent enough on the top end with the cts small housing. He is saying a 0 or 5 will give you faster spool than a 10 clip
Drive around on empty, kick the chick out if you have one, and become anorexic. Oh and dont for get to slap a vtec sticker on it that good for at least 12hp:naughty:
If you dont want to go to Portland theres Shelley's Dyno in otis orchards, they helped us tune the last supra we built. We were also working with a SAFC2 but had a few more mods to go with it than you do and were able to walk away with just under 600 hp. Not too shabby
no where you plan to weld with a wire brush, then wipe it down with some paint thinner or acitone an paint it, you'll be fine. If you ever plan to powder or ceramic coat aluminized steel you want to give it a good sand blasting first, paint is fine.
Aluminized is fine and actually better if your not painting it. If its getting coated make sure it gets blasted good first. Stay away from stainless unless your an experiences welder. Its a bit of a PITA and there are many types of stainless that will lose the stainless quality when heated...
