Here is what you need to do this right. I have built two 1.5jz's recently.
Timming belt 2jz (new)
timming belt iddler 2jz (New)
Water neck from a 2jz (sensors work fine with your A70 guages)
2jz bypass tube from water neck to water pump
1jz stock gasket will work. (new)
The parts that...
For anyone wondering what the size and offset of my wheels are, well here it is:
18X10 +19 high pad fronts (still clean TT brakes)
18X11 +24 low pad rears (enough to clear coilover springs and TT rear calipers)
tires are 265 front and 275 rears. If my Soapra fenders can fit 265's, I'm...
Here is a picture of the timing belt tensioner arm and roller. The Top one is 2jz and the lower one is 1jz. I set the rollers together and the middle together to show the difference in the arms.
1.5 jz's use the 2jz tesion arm and the grenade looking part is the same in all JZ engines...
I ran an FCD for many years with no problems at all. you have to know the limits of your engine and fuel system. Now If you crank up the boost to 25 psi on pump gas you are asking for it.
FCD's are not bad. If you have upgraded IC, intake, exhaust and catback with a downpipe you will...
I should be taking pictures of my head project. Im working closely with my machinist to get the most out of the 1jz head. I will post the numbers for us to compare.
Never go over what ARP says on the piece of paper they send with the studs, regarless of headgasket material. If you are unsure, call ARP for specs. The head gasket plays no role in the torque spec the bolts or studs have to go to. ARP makes the bolt and thats what they have told me in the past...
The 1jz pistons have different ring lands and also skirts are shorter then the 2jz oem pistons. You can buy a aftermarket piston for a 2jz and use it on a 1jz block.
This was my stock rebuilt that most on this forum have read they can do, because they get miss guided that stock 7M parts can take a good amount of abuse. Under the conditions that my 7M died under, I guess stock was not best. Not everything is best stock. That engine had about 70,000 miles on...
My stock rod bolts were not 20 years old. They were new. Enough said! The car was making no more then 300 HP, for it to die like that is a shame. It was great and it wasn't bad but the JZ's are better.
I have built many engines over my many years with Supras and I still build 7M's for my die...
So it's safe to asume that your 7M is on stock rods Duane? :icon_razz
Streets of willow stresses the engine far more then big willow, alot more g's and turns, more prolonged second and third gear high RPM runs (6 to 7K) constantly. I do admit that the 7M I was using at the time had stock...
