John -
I'll let you know on the 'notchyness' of a built 154 this weekend (built by marlin). With the NM shifter, total throw is ~3" which isn't really going to help the 'feel'. Cold shifting it feels really tight - nothing like a stock box.
T5 = smooth???? tko3550 is waaaaaaaaaaay smoother (had...
Is it just me, or is that a tube front end? The front cut right beyond the shock towers...what's the story there? is this a RR car - brake caliper looks big enough... (completely OT I know)
yeah - by over-torquing there is a good chance you are causing the head to deform, allowing these little leaks to occur.
I would start there first (because its a known problem)
(to continue with the O/T)
Anyone else remember what Lotus was doing around the same time (actually, it was shortly after) the ZR1 engine?
turbo 2.2L 4cyl with 300-320hp in the espirit.
and it was 375hp on the LT5, not 400. But still, for the time, it was very good.
pending what model (turbo, AT/MT) and year, the aux fan swtiches kick on at 212F and 234F (http://www.cygnusx1.net/Supra/Library/TSRM/MK3/manual.aspx?S=AC&P=33)
so yes, you are in the normal range for a stock cooling system (mine acted the same way stock)
Hey Reap-
Sorry, I missed your question. I have a pic on my phone that's @ steering wheel level (if you want it, give me a place to send it to). At my eye level (sitting), 800rpm and less on the tach and 140mph and above are covered. They way I figure it, I'm not going to be looking at the...
Call Jon @ MDC. he is one of the resident experts on holsets. Or do a search on holset, I believe he listed some info on the range as well as OE applications for a lot of them.
You have 2 options.
1. buy their sensor
2. tap into the efi temp sensor
The documentation on their site explains it further, but those are your options for hooking it up.
ah, I wasn't that clear. the point of the low/ high temp is to set the range of variation, just the lowest speed (which occurs at the low temp) is 50% max rpm (and it continually increases to a max of 88%, until the 'high' threshold is reached, then it goes 100%).
My only beef would be to have...
I use this: http://www.spalusa.com/fans/automated/accessories/fanpwm.html
When I bought it a year and a half ago, this place had the best price: http://www.speedwaymotors.com/p/4583,938_Spal-Fan-Controller.html
in a nutshell, you program it with a low/high temp. at the low temp, fan kicks...
a soft rubber 'pipe' will expand with boost pressure anyway, and should only be used as a temp solution. Maybe check and see if there are any big diesel shops around - they might have something that would work in a pinch
Your asking about the lower IC pipe (turbo -> IC inlet)? If that IC you have has the input on the low part of the core on the pass side, then you could pick up a nice hard pipe that is an exact fit from Speed Source (I think they are somewhere in the misc vendor section). Under $100 and its a...
There was a kit for the rear that was made by Jake (can't recall his last name) that made the mkiv rear brakes a bolt on affair. He sold what was left of his kits on SF 3-4months ago (IIRC). That is all I can think of - Is that what you were referring to?
