Give this a shot. I'm not sure if the control box will give an output if there is no o2 input, but try:
Disconnect the RJ45 (o2 connector) from the control box. Then startup and wait for thirty seconds or so then see if there is any input to your notebook i.e. rpm, tps, boost, vf if you...
You probably confirmed you had the correct serial port selected in the software as outlined here:

Then checked the signal harness for 5V as described here:

Did you use the same USB-Serial cable on all three different computers? Have you tried a computer with a real serial port?
Did you get the ZT-2 display?
There is a wiring write-up in my sig you could use to verify your wiring.
I didn't do any tuning on the dyno, just two runs for results. I did my street tuning for low 11's. It showed richer on the dyno.

Glad you figured it out. I don't have an answer for the resistor value.
