LOL... thanks for the excellent advice....:biglaugh:
I can't seem to find anything missing a connector as I don't have a Cali car with the EGR gas temp sensor and now my Canadian EGR is removed... Time to move on and install the upper intake (which will make any work in this area a PITA)
Any...
I checked out the wire colors and they are brown (BR) and Black-Yellow (B-Y). The only thing with that match and in the right location is the EGR gas temp for the California model. I checked out my book (TSM) as the on-line is too hard to follow and it shows a plug to a resister labeled "that"...
MS07s: I'll take a look at the alarm horn idea... I have seen the other end on the firewall, it had me stumped on my first rebuild, but I don't remember this one.
IwantMKIII: What you see in the pic is the tube from the trans dipstick and the plugs (4) that go to the trans and such just by the...
With age, I seem to be forgetting things and I can't remember where I unplugged this from (not even sure if it was actually plugged to something)
The plug is grey and is located on the part of the harness that goes to the starter and Auto trans on the driver's side. The wire is short in length...
I have a question concerning fitment with an Auto tranny. Some of you mentioned it came close to the trans, which trans were you talking about Manual or Auto? I have a 3" DP mounted right now with my Auto and things are tight. I had to build a small heat shield to ensure the pipe didn't transfer...
OK, I took off my manifold and only one helicoil stud screwed out, all the others, the nuts came off no problem. I sprayed some Liquid Wrench on all the nuts/exposed studs and waited about 15 minutes, then took a power bar and gave the nuts a quick turn for them to "pop"... The engine was cold...
A little off topic, but has anyone had bad experinces removing the nut on Helicoil'd studs? I'm about to take my exhaust off, and I did strip the head originally. I've since helicoiled them, but now I am going to take the nuts off and yup, they are rusted. I will definately use a liquid wrench...
I'll take a guess...
Could #3 be the hose to the charcoal canister from the firewall feed?
The vacumm line in could be from the hard pipes mounted on the intake? I need to look at the vacuum diagram in the TSRM to be sure.
The hole in the driver's side (left) engine mount has a sort of...
OK, so I'm asking for a beating, but I rebuilt mine and used motor oil as it worked better than WD40 or any electronic grafite spray. Here is what I did and some pics of the 89+ unit inside.
89+ Climate Control fix
Agreed, #3 and 4 are the electrical and vacumm for the VSV EGR circuit. The vacumm comes off the Throttle body through a tube mounted on the intake.

As for #1, I would trace that back and make sure things are in order or remove all...
I was looking at those but when I found that they were tiawan, I got doubtful.
Anyone have opinions about the gasket quality of the non HG parts from Tiawan?

I haven't got to that yet as I'm depressed that it broke so near the end of the season, and am missing out on the last week(s) of driving here...
Are you using the stock bolts as they are known to stretch and not hold the torque setting. I switched mine to ARP the first year I got the car...
NON, Mathieu, les side marker ne son pas les meme dimensions....
Je va verifier avec les Admin (Beefeata ou JYM) de SupraQuebec pour votre inscription.

EDIT: The front and rear indicators (side markers) are NOT the same size.
Just in case there is a misunderstanding... I am not asking about the HG but the kits or in other words... all the other gaskets that should be in the kit... Like I mentioned, the Toyota material differs from the Apex like metal fiber vs paper... Are the other brands like Fel-Pro, Yonaka and...
OK, I guess I asked for it. but I didn't think you guys were going to be so brutal... lol...
When I blew the gasket, I had several other issues happen at the same time... The head bolts are ARP and they were at 75lbs torque setting. I was hearing some boost leak that I was trying to track down...
Well, I just blew my Apex grafite head gasket (between Cyl #1&2  ) and I was looking for opinions on what non metal head gasket kit would members recommend. I was not impressed with the paper gaskets in the Apex kit, especially when it came to certain places like the TB and the ERG cooler...
A good rule of thumb is 10psi for every 1000RPM once warmed up.... Judging by speed makes no sense as it all depends what RPM you are running... 40mph in 1st redlined or 40mph in 3rd at 1000rpm makes a big difference in oil pressure.
