I had mine taken apart, heat straightened, cleaned, new Toyota Valves, Springs, Retainers, valve stems/seals, 3 angle valve job, and port matched and milled to a >17RA value for $320 (plus the Toyota Parts) when I got mine done. So you look to be right in the range.

I have dealt with this exact problem. I found mine in the harness grounds to the manifold. I actually repaired the ground with new eyelets, and new non conductive loom, also...someone mentioned the ground being in the position it was, was too close to the constant 12v wire going to the starter...
My cams looked similar to yours, but just keep in mind, this motor is still at least 20 years old. I just had all my mirrored surfaces polished. But you will more then likely need to re-shim your valves after that. Which is what I needed to do. Not a hard task to do yourself...but there's a lot...
Yea, I read somewhere that people would switch the intake cams from the NA's the GTE's because they had a larger lift but the Cygnus says the GTE's have a larger lift.
OK will do...cause I thought the grounds that went bottom on the intake manifold, weren't making a good conection...so I put new eyelets on it and made sure the intake throttle body was making a good ground....well it fixed it for a bit then started acting up again....so Im thinking the harness...
