I think this is going to become a popular swap, there are several others working on similar setups.
I can see the 2JZGE and AEM for ~$2000, but the turbo stuff is going to add quite a bit to that. And waht are you doing for a trans?
Why did you post this in 7MGTE tech? There is a whole...
Either that or the deck height of the 7M is taller in which case you would want to keep the 5M shortblock with a 7M head to avoid custom rods. One way or the other should work.
I think you made a great deal, there will always be people wanting a black/shadow gray 91-92 turbo 5-spd, some will want a targa and some will want a hardtop. Congrats and enjoy.
I don't see why the motor would have to be completely out, I think it could be done with a jack. depending how high you can lift the engine with the jack it might not be easy to reach down to the motor mount with the intake in your way, but should be doable.
Make sure the engine is well...
That must have been the thread I was looking for and could never find, I knew I had read it somewhere.
The beauty of this plan is that if the wiring/sensors work out ok, you can have a practically bulletproof longblock for not much more than it would cost you do put a MHG in your 7M, at least...

not much real info, but worth a look
I posted this idea on SF awhile ago, I'll find a link. I originally got the idea from daveh. I bought a 2JZGE engine and just got my BIC mounts, but haven't gotten much farther on it yet, it's a winter project and I need to clear some space out first. If your serious let's pool out...
Not to derail this thread, but come on. You guys make it sound like monitoring the knock sensors implies some kind of closed loop ignition timing control where you let the engine run as much timing as it wants until it knocks, it's NOT, I suppose that's sort of what would happen if you had your...
Actually it wasn't the wording that I was confused about but the logic, I'll take something over nothing anyday. But considering the source my little "smile" was more of an attempt to drive further discussion
I guess that's one way to look at it. Or you could say that before it was full of...

Anyone seen heard anything about the new AEM "fuel and ignition controller"?

Seems more along the lines of the Emanage. Keeps your stock ECU in place and lets you adjust both the inputs and outputs.
Based on...
You definantly have the power to get a good 60', if your car is lowered that will hurt you, but other than that all you need is good tires and lots of practice.
Brian definantly knows his stuff so you are in good hands there.
If I were in your shoes I would try crimping brand new pins...
Well you need to make some terminations eventually. You've got 3 options I can think of.
1. Figure out how to get you old connectors onto your new wires
2. Get new stock connectors
3. Get new sensors with new connectors
1 isn't easy and 2+3 aren't cheap, all of them require some skill...
