    W58 Shifting problem!

We use Transtar parts all the time at the shop. However, it doesn't say if its for the n/a or turbo. They're two entirely different transmissions. I'd be sure you're getting the correct parts. Also, find a competent trans. shop to do this. You need a press to remove certain parts, and a few...

car is intermiitently missing at idle

Interesting. Check the grounds on the intake. Check for oil inside the distributor(there shouldn't be any). I'd be willing to bet you're having a connection issue. Make sure all the plugs for those three sensors are firmly in place, and there aren't any broken or damaged wires.

How to get to brake switch?

The panel has two screws in the front, and you have to remove the hood release screws. You can replace the rubber stopper(on the brake pedal arm) with a small bolt and nut. Put it in so that the head of the bolt is what contacts the switch.

    Didn't Pass Smog wtf

Did you take it in cold or hot? Taking it in at operating temp, and not shutting it off, will make a difference. If its at operating temp, you shut it off, and restart it, it's gonna run rich during the test. The 2.5" pipe is fine, but you're gonna want to put a resonator in there. It's...

Friend's 7mge won't start, he moves soon, help.

The fuel pump should act exactly as you describe. The afm turns it on when the flapper moves. You can pull the air filter, and push the flap open. This should activate the fuel pump(with the key on). Could be you have the dist. off a tooth, or the firing order wrong/backwards.

You should still be able to pull codes and watch data with a good scanner. I can on my wife's 94 Corrola with my OTC Genisys. Interesting idea, though. Would you just repin the 7m harness to the 2jz connector and ecu?

    Piston dish?

JE told me they're a custom piston, as their standard piston for a gte is -.185. They said they want the part number to tell me what they are. I guess I'll go get some plexiglass and a cc dropper, and see if I can get a solid number. Thanks for the help all.

    Weird shuddering...

Brakes. Either get the rotors machined(runs about $10 each), or buy new ones(around $20 each). I'd buy new ones, myself. The Wagner thermo-quiet pads from O'riellys and Advanced are a decent pad for a good price. You need new pads when you machine rotors, or change to new ones.

car is intermiitently missing at idle

A vacuum leak will cause problems, and should be fixed. The exhaust leak can be an issue as well, depending on where it's located. Edit: Do you mean one of the large rubber tubes between the intake and throttle body? That will most definitely be an issue, as it will let in a lot of...

    tps failing emissions?

You either probe each wire individually through the insulation(if your probes are sharp enough), or you Carefully slit the boot on the back of the harness plug, and peel it off. To reseal the wires, put some waterproof dielectric grease in the back of the plug.

    Piston dish?

I have a set of JE pistons, and the box says the dish is -.315. I'm guessing its in cubic inches, but not sure. I need to get a general idea of what cr these would be. The calculator I used said they'd be 5cc dish, which doesn't seem right. Here's a pic of the tag on the box: Thanks

    little tricks

past an intake and muffler? Without spending alot of money, intake and exhaust work is about it. Lightweight flywheel and a good clutch wouldn't hurt, either, if its a 5spd. All the same suspension upgrades apply. Keep it as a nice daily for when your turbo car is down. Personally hate the...

Need some help with my 7mge-7mgte swap

Not sure, to be honest. Think the ignitors are different as well. I'm sure there are a few differences, and I'm also sure that a little bit of searching would turn up everything he needs to know. I'd still rather change a few parts out than mess with swapping out the harness plugs. Mess it...

Need some help with my 7mge-7mgte swap

Sell your 89+ harness and ecu, and buy the pre89 harness and ecu. You could do both here in the for sale section. Less headache(by far), and probably make the trade pretty quick. Sorry, have that backwards. You need to buy the turbo harness and ecu for the same year as your car, and sell the...

Autometer gauge sensor in stock location, safe????????? picture!

You can, however, tap it to npt, and get a perfect fit. As said, they are almost identical, so the tap will make the change while keeping the threads intact. You need to use a good tap lube so that the little bit of metal dust stays on the tap. Did this to put a thermal fan switch in, and it...
