I think the GT45 is a custom turbo from China. They just call it a GT45 so it sounds legit. A new impeller wheel from Garrett and installation will probably cost you as much as getting another turbo and there is no guarantee that it will even fit..
They are going for less than 400 bucks on ebay.
They label them so that they know what valve they mate up to so they dont have to re-measure their clearances. Shims come in multiple thicknesses. Thats how you adjust your valve clearances. All you have to do is:
Measure shim thickness of all shims before they go back into the motor and...
Yeah - I have had a few people comment that they dont like the exhaust. Others say they like it though.
It is pretty f-ing loud so I was just going to get a removable silencer for 10 bucks off of ebay but I think it will stick out WAY too far and look really stupid.
I dont think the water temp is strange - maybe if it kept going down after a few runs.... That pump starts moving a lot of fluid once you get the rpms up.
After reading up on the AEM forum, Im going to bump up the timing and lean it out a bit while in vacuum.
Thanks Jay - I think it will look a lot better once I get the engine bay cleaned out!!
Thanks man - yeah too bad you couldnt get a ride in it. Im going easy on the car right now and havent turned the boost up past 1.3kpa.
I had to do a few things here and there, and I want everything as perfect as it can be before I turn up the boost! Right now im trying to get the cruise tuned...
Anybody know where I can get a stainless oval 4" muffler and catalytic converter?
My car is way too loud and im afraid that im going to get a ticket. It comes in at 110 db at 5k rpm
The wheel will actually spin easier now - you just wont make as much pressure.
I guess you could try it and see how you like the turbo, but some of the people using that setup in pristine condition on a 2jz already stated that they didnt like how LATE the boost hit.
For comparison you...
Need more details. Either way you will have to compare the wiring diagrams from the donor car vs your car and ensure that the necessary wire inputs/outputs are properly connected (tach, power on, ground, dashboard temperature gauge, etc). Most of the wires wont need to be changed because they...
Yeah - I think so. There shouldnt be anything unique on the chassis of a vvti equipped vehicle that you couldnt make work with a MKIII chassis. When you look at the wiring diagram you will know for sure.
If you can find a vvti diagram and post it up I will look at it too.
I tried to use a 3vze throttle cable but it was way too long. I think I got my throttle cable from an early 80s toyota. If you can get the throttle cable from the car you are getting the motor out of it will probably work.
