I figured out what the screeching was. Apparently I forgot to tighten one of the bolts that holds the timing plate down all the way, and the screeching was the cam gear grinding it. It bent it over and deformed/stripped the hole. When I put my hand on the cover, it quieted down a lot. I couldn't...

Switch to Redline and do the Marvin Crawler bushing swap, that'll improve it a lot. I'd also try double clutching, I always do it on downshifts and it makes life easier.

I failed at something, metal noise coming from directly under my VC. Either my cam is grinding on my cam cap or I have an epically failed valve. In the process of pulling my cam caps off now to take a gander, I'll post some pics up if it looks damaged at all.
