Measuring 1st Gear Thrust Clearance on R154

Went back and measured with a dial gauge like the TSRM recommends for the 2nd gear thrust and am getting around .33mm which is in spec, seems like this is probably the best method to use for measuring thrust clearance imho...

Measuring 1st Gear Thrust Clearance on R154

Hey guys, in the process of rebuilding my R154 and am having issues figuring out if I have the output shaft center bearing in far enough. Can anyone tell me what I should be measuring between to check the 1st gear thrust clearance? I'm measuring around .73mm between the inner bearing race...

Think I killed my r154 or pressure plate...

Got the inspection covers off tonight and the pressure plate looks fine but the throwout bearing hub is difficult to turn and binds at one point in its rotation so the throwout may be damaged but I'll have to pull the trans to see if it just failed or the bearing retainer failed and damaged it...

Good to know, I'd rather spend the $$ on a multi-plate clutch than another trans :)

Think I killed my r154 or pressure plate...

Was on my way to work this morning with the E/T streets on the car (was planning a trip to the strip tomorrow night) and heard a loud bang during a 2nd gear pull and now I've got a loud rpm-based clanking that goes away when I push the clutch in. I know the 1st gear thrust washer is a weak...

Code 14 and no spark on #1 and #6

I was working on rigging up a 3V battery supply to test the ignitor last night and noticed that both pins of the #1/6 coil pack connector are getting 12V (vs the signal pin being grounded) so it looks like that wire may be shorted to 12V constant somewhere in the harness between the ignitor and...

Code 14 and no spark on #1 and #6

Trying to chase down a no-run condition w/code 14 and I figured out that cyls #1 and 6 (1st coil pack) are not getting spark. I've checked continuity in the coil pack harness and between the igniter and coils and all checks out ok. I've tried my spare ECU and also tried swapping coils and a...

    Heat Soak/Vapor Lock

Been DDing my MKIII for the past couple of months and have had a couple of instances of what I think may be vapor lock--car won't start (or starts and barely idles) after driving for a while in our lovely 100+ degree temps (30+mins) and then sitting for 15-20 mins. Both times this happened I...

    2JZ NA-T into MK3

Dunno, I can get away with a little more aggressive timing with E85 too so that might be part of it. I'm running a South Bend OFE clutch, actually exceeding the tq rating but it's been holding fine even launching with slicks at the strip :) Car looks awesome btw, makes me want to get my pink...
