It should flow more without oil. When it comes to my car on high boost, there's a restriction somewhere. I am using a greddy 3 row, which should be good for a bit more being 2.5 in and 2.75 to the throttle body. I have seen stock intake manifold cars make more than me I just think I have a...
I have seen a couple of MKIV dynos on SF where the filter hurt power by a lot (massive turbos). Even though it was a massive 5 inch pipe going to the fender, they gained a butt load by removing the intake. I really don't have time to search for one of those threads right now...
I agree that...
Has anybody done any back to back testing?
I am wondering at what level mine would be a restriction, or if there is any rule of thumb going about selecting a new one.
I made 635rwhp @ 27PSI with the filter on, but I expected a lot more out of it with this setup.
I am using a beat up K&N...
Around here gas is gas. Shell, and Chevron, and Samco, and Texaco, etc from highest costing gas station to the lowest... all get gas from the same place. Top tier around here is bullcrap. I think it's bullcrap throughout the nation also. Even though I saw the information supracentral posted...
I run only 93, but there are some gas stations that have no ethanol and is 100% gas. Most of the gas here is 10-20% ethanol.
I used both, but I can't really tell any difference.
My timing is maxed for pump, so 93 is the only thing I'll ever run.
EDIT: until E85 makes it here.......
I was on a $300 junkyard GE motor with 180,000 miles. I swapped the block out ofter almost two years of daily abuse.
I made 635rwhp on 93 + meth. Low to me, probably due to the condition of the engine. Burned oil at idle sometimes, weird. Finally, the rings gave out of a night running 27PSI...
I was just wondering what volts were going to the coils while the engine was running, just to establish beyond any doubt the dwell settings you will need.
Are all of the coils drawing off of the same power source?
Any kind of voltage amplifier being used?
Might be "duh" questions, I just...
I've been on 3.5ms on the 1zz's for a long time, and I drive every single day with no problems.
As others have stated, I love these 1ZZ coils. They are awesome for high boost.
What is the measure of volts going to the coils during operation? That is very strange that you are killing your...
Using 2JZ guys as examples, stock springs are fine with upgraded cams (any it seems) until you go with larger turbos with the cams deep into boost. That's going to make a difference in deciding who is going to "need" springs, and who isn't.
Get it tuned, and it is just as reliable as any other JZ engine able to make great power unless it's a VVT-I block.
Then, sadface.
I'd also use a stock JZ head gasket. A 2mm is too much IMO.
Engine management for NA-T is the key.
I replace them when I notice them missing at idle, or I notice it getting a bit "sluggish" than usual. Seem to be lasting a long time at 27PSI everyday, though.
