I've been running ASX's for a year now, and I LOVE them as a year round street tire. They are sticky enough in a straight line that my clutch went first lol, they grip pretty well in the rain, and the sidewalls are very solid. Made my car handle SOOOO much better even in 225/50R16 on stock...
Running Sylvania Silverstars here and very happy with them for the price. Got some good H4 housing in the garage for a possible HID setup later. Not sure yet.
MKIII for life.
I know I have a 2JZ under the hood, but it's still a MKIII.
Have you ever driven a MKIV? Each time I've driven a MKIV I've gone back to my MKIII appreciating the very solid sturdy feel of it. The MKIV's have honestly felt too much like a 95 Celica GT I test drove last year...
Yay! Oil squirters!
Oh, and something that I read a while back is that if you have the oppertunity you should replace the oil squirters with new ones as the springs in them will fatigue and cause them to open at too low a pressure causing an abnormal drop in overall oil pressure. Somebody...
Looking at your sig and couldn't but think "beautiful humboldt, ca". I haven't been up that way in a while, but I can't wait to boost down 101 again. :)
I just put some ARP studs into my 2JZ after replacing the headgasket. I followed the instructions and torqued them to 80ft-lbs with moly lube.
However I do have some Q's.
1. Do I need to do a 500 mile retorque like I've heard so many times? The instructions basically said torque them and...
Like really really good shape. I wouldn't pay $2,000 for a rod knocking Supra unless it was hands down the cleanest MKIII I've ever seen. It's a lot of money, time, and effort that you have to put in before you ever get to enjoy it. I'd personally keep looking for another one that isn't about to...
1 picture update!
Almost back together with some fresh paint to help cover up the ugly. All I need to do now is send the rest of the aluminum bits (upper IM, upper water pipe, turbo piping, etc.) off to be cleaned up like the lower IM, and with a little more cleaning the engine should be...
I voted that I have another daily.
When my Supra is running I drive it 50-60% of the time. I usually won't take it if I'm going to be parking it and leaving it for the day (like at work), but it comes out on weekends, short trips around town/to see friends, and when going on a road...
It's a stock Toyota gasket, identical to the one that came off, actually. lol I thought it looked a little weird too, but I compared them and they are the same.
Nice clean headgasket surface (the product of hours of hand cleaning and polishing) and some ARP studs.
New hadgasket in place.
Head's back on.
Just needs valve covers! (Repainting those is one of the next steps.)
Until next time,
Collin
Mine's been down since August getting a new headgasket, engine bay repaint, new suspension goodies, roll-cage, new clutch, ABS delete, excess wiring removal, etc.. The list goes on.
I hope to drive it again by summer.

Sounds like there's potential. :D Maybe that will be my next project once my current money pit reaches some form of completion, whatever that means. lol
