just a heads up guys, all the obvious stupid stuff has been looked at already. plug wires were all checked, every underhood connector was taken apart, pins inspected, and put back together. the vortex screen is in the AFM, all vacuum lines/components have been looked over...
i'll chime in on this one, i spent all of yesterday trying to figure this out. the engine seems to catch itself every half second or so and try to stay alive, but it's a consistent pattern and not a "die whenever you want to" situation.
mechanical timing is spot on, intake and exhaust cam...
yeah, I learned that lesson the hard way after an incident with a wobble joint. I'll never use any kind of air tool again without gloves or safety glasses, if I'm going to lose body parts I'm going to sell them in mexico, not lose them on the job.
I try to avoid it as much as possible, but there have been a few instances where an impact socket won't quite fit because of the thickness. I had a single set dedicated for those situations though, I had another set for the regular ratchet.

craftsman or great neck sockets and snap on or mac drivers. Great neck seems to hold up to an impact pretty well, a lot better than craftsman anyway, and I think they're a bit cheaper too. Fit to the nut/bolt is just as good as any snap on set I've used too.

I don't know what the R154 calls for offhand as far as fluid type, probably GL4 gear oil, but I do know that any GL5 fluid such as GM's synchromesh and I believe royal purple will react with bronze parts in the transmission.

exactly...they're out there doing their job just like everyone else. It just so happens that their job gets them nothing but a bad rep because people are too irresponsible to at least own up to their mistakes. If I get caught speeding or goofing around in a parking lot, I'm not going to argue...
