Love it AJ, that Y piece looks so good. You're still running the ACIS aren't you? I think will this will make a bit better use of the ACIS function and you'll get most of your 'gains' at part throttle or low speed. Keen for track report when you get it going properly :)
Not sure what you mean about dimples, but the Aussie one has a passage for the egr, and a cover plate on top that i think disrupts the flow path a little, it might be the same as yours. Can get a pic if you want.
I never liked the factory Y pipe because it increases area after the throttle...
i just pulled my filter off from under the head light. It was driven in all conditions (rain etc), with no plastic cover under the front. It was perfectly clean, but it was right up under the headlight.
water pump spins faster with rpm, so you're moving more water around. You're also either moving faster with rpm, or spinning your fan quicker, so there's more air flow as well.
you'll be doing a HG job soon.
twist the throttle by hand, it should give you enough slack to pull the cable out of it's holder. You need to push the cable down and slide the stopper/cable out to the side. Should be clear when you have a look at it.
If you can't get enough slack, you'll need to undo the lock nuts on the...
that's exactly how my v8 one was, only a little stronger built on the male/female parts. Was a tight clearance, so I had to pull it out slowly if i wanted to leave the gear in there, but after pulling the dizzy in and out about 10 times, it had its usefulness :)
i bought an after market dizzy for an old v8 that was two piece gear and top shaft. Was so you could pull the dizzy out without having to reset the gear. Maybe you've uncovered a maintenance loop hole ;)
^hood sealing is a pretty good idea.
You don't need pictures, just get a cardboard box and a pair of scissors, pop your hood and get thinking. You'll soon have a whole stack of ideas on your own, and you'll be much happier at the end of it :)
Whether you use fibre or metal, its just a matter of making a box that bolts into the stock locations and is big enough to house your filter. If you are prepared to make it out of fibre, I'd assume you have at least the basic skills for that, so can't really see how you'd need a write up for...
hehe, where have you posted about your exhaust heat shields? I was just making a joke about your avatar pic. You put the heat shields back over your manifold didn't you?
Have you thought about running your air filter outside the engine bay? You can fit one bellow your headlight, and the hole is already cut for the pipe (bout 45 deg i think) to go through. You can also use another 90 deg bend to bring the filter down in front of the radiator, in the opening of...
You only changed the thermostat? Hehe, I went through pretty much the whole cooling system. I'd still be in denial, but there's nothing left to replace and loosing half a radiator a week gets a little hard to explain.
I've got a GT25 (300hp) turbo on mine at the moment. It spools quick, actually too hard to tell when it's on full boost (5-6psi) cause of the Auto, but somewhere in the region of 2200-2500RPM. My GE electrics don't like it at all. Think its a dodgy MAF (like JJ told me, but i decided not to...
