my motor was rebuilt about 4 years ago and at the same time i had a toyota head gasket torqued down to 75 ft/lbs with ARP bolts. I probably put about 45 000 km since the rebuild and everything is fine.

Well i'm upgrading to a 57 trim ct-26 with all the necessary fuel mods. I don't plan on crazy power but i would like to see atleast 15 PSI. My mods currently allow me to hit 12+ PSI and then fuel cut but with a stock ct-26.

Is this just a recipe for disaster?? i know some people have arguments for both sides and if i could i would pull the motor, lap the block, machine the head and seal them with a MHG. But i don't have the space, time or resources to do such a project myself.

yes. :icon_bigg

Some people have 0 probs with OEM gaskets, some do. It seems that no two engines fair as well as another. I'm running OEM w/ ARP's at ~13psi w/ no probs thus far. My buddy is running closer to 14-15 and hasn't ahd probs either. But, someone will post up saying that they had BHG on an OEM headgasket running 4psi or something stupid. If it was done right, I wouldn't have a problem doing it, esp if you are adding fuel mods to the list. Detonation is what will kill your HG, not the pressure.

With a good tune, i see no problem with it!

If you have the funds, i would suggest a mhg, but make sure you get her tuned real well, and you should be alright.

And make sure youve got a wideband! :)

I didn't blow up my Toyota head gasket until 20psi on an upgraded CT - and when I tore it down there were clear signs of detonation. I think the OEM gaskets are good for a lot more power than most of the people here claim. Of course, your mileage may vary.

On the flip side, I have since switched to a MHG, so...
