Wilwood caliper creaking sound?

I've had the ARZ wilwood 4 pot kit on my jza70 for less than 12 months, have barely driven the car in that time, maybe 2000 miles. In the past few days I've noticed a creaking sound coming from the front right when braking. So I jacked the car up to take a closer look. When I press the brake pedal the caliper/pad assembly creaks, much like the sound of an old bed creaking. The sound happens when you press the pedal and when you release the pedal. Should I be worried about this or has anyone had a similar issue with their wilwoods? Really want to know if it's safe to drive the car.

Cheers

I'm betting this is the alignment post thingy that keeps everything all in line. Just got to get a little grease into the alignment pin area. Of course being careful not to get it ANYWHERE else in there. Grease and brakes R NOT! friends obviously!

Here's a link to the stock MKIII front brake assembly. I know you have Wilwoods, but I am betting they have something very similar to the "sliding bushing" depicted here and that would be the part I am betting needs some gentle careful lubricating.

Maybe another Wilwood owner or knowledgeable person will chime in here for you soon.

Regardless short term use isn't going to do any serious damage but you do want to get it taken care of since it is leading up to seizing up if left long term.

That link doesn't go anywhere useful.

It's not uncommon for less expensive calipers/brake systems to creak some when pedal pressure is applied.

Nope, it's more of an alignment dowel that the seperate halfs are guided along with.

Bzzzz nuh uh the Wilwoods are a 4 Piston calliper, no sliders, all the pins do is hold the Pads in.

Check the Bolts are all tight you may have to contact Wilwood for the correct Tq setting.

I'm talking about the Calliper Halve bolts that hold the 2 sides together NOT the mounting hardware....

it is loud isnt it. it's quite fucking weird, yet the car still stops as it should (brakes need a good bleed, but the noise certainly isnt hurting caliper operation in any way (or doesnt seem to be). I'm at a loss, will have to take it to a braking specialist. Pulling the caliper off myself is easy but a waste of time because I wont know what i'm looking at when I do pull it off.

Oh sorry, I misunderstood your post (obviously). There is a guy on these forums who works with wilwood, cant think of his name. Will search my PMs and get in touch with him.

Have you sent ARZ a pm about this? He was on the board 2 days ago and he is very knowledgeable about his system. Shoot him a PM, I'm sure he'll respond quickly.

That is a very odd brake sound. Maybe you got a bad caliper out of the batch or perhaps water in the system and the is rust to where the caliper doesn't operate smoothly? Just a guess. never heard of anything like that unless something was loose.

A "brake specialist" isn't going to know what he's looking at as they're not stock, it's going to be a complete waste of time (and it's more likely that he'd fuck something up).

I'd contact arz.

Could be any number of things, first thing to do would be to disassemble them and inspect them.

It's not stock, it's race grade parts. They'd probably freak and say the pistons are missing their dust seals (hint: wilwoods don't have them)
