you hear a sound... sounds like rod knock but it's not

what is it?

i did notice that worldwide it doesn't seem to be common a supra but we've done 4 of em now... you'd think we'd know as soon as we heard it lol... but instead we dropped the sump to check out bottom end and she's all good... all clearances are fine

What particular sound are you looking for? There are several things that will cause engine knock, besides spun bearings. As mentioned, the wrist pin, cam journal, scored piston, broken valvetrain, oil pump, etc.

Even a water pump that is bad can knock and resonate through the motor.

Leaking exhaust manifold/gasket. I had mine start leaking this friday, initially it sounded like a random ticking noise from the block, I almost shit myself, now it's just loud. (I'm probably not right.)
