the daunting burnt out turbo question

Hi Im looking for 550whp.

I was doing some research on turbos and I was about to go with PTE but there were some threads that the newer billet PTE were blowing left and right, even though PTE did honor the warranty, it was still a PITA to send them old turbo etc. But assuming i got a PTE i would get one of these two.

the 59 seems a bit small for my goal, im just gonna run 660s and the support fuel, and a bc.

but its also a bit more expensive. Anyone recommend a turbo in about the same price range as these?

I'd personally go for the Borg if it were my car. An S362 or so would do that power just fine as well.

Alot of the problems with the turbos going is crankcase pressure, not allowing the oil to drain, or to small, poorly routed returns. I have ran 3 PTE turbos with zero issues, but have always been able to log vacuum in the crankcase under boost.

For a modest goal of 550whp, a 62mm turbo will work just fine, youll be in the lower to mid 20's for boost pressure but will support with no issues. My friend has a 6262 on his 1j and its good and responsive, and with that same turbo on my 2.5L volvo 4 cylinder, I made 568whp at 27psi on pump.

For a 2j Id go with the 6266.

dang the 6262 looks pretty tight, but its just out of my budget. Im still shopping around, budget at max calls for something in the 700's or less. Im looking on the for sale section in the supraforums, they have an insane amount of turbos flying around lol

I'm thinking he means just the turbo Lonnie. Otherwise, yeah, he would be out of his mind to think that would happen with $700.

I always forget about Comp turbo. I wish they were used a bit more often nowadays, as well as Turbonetics. Would be nice to see how they compare to the increasing trend of BW turbos, for instance.
