Stock CPS limits

my car is currently being tuned 7mgte my tuner is running into issues with poor signals from the CPS he suggested he can have a look and tightning it up/ try someone else's but being used to working with RB's he wants to put a trigger wheel on the crank and go that route as they always have probelms with them and figures having issues now at only 10psi when we start to push 3 times that jst going to run into issues again.

Money is tight but am seriously considerng this rather than wasting money trying a whole pile of 2nd hand cps's and I wasting money changing? is the CPS perfectly fine? numbers I can only assume will be over 600hp atw on E85

If the bearings are ok you can close the airgap down to 2 thou that will give it the best output possible, also remove any unused coils if you're using a standalone as they do interfere at high rpm.

Searching found a thread with paradox having issues with his on his haltec said they speced his down to 2mm/8thou from 4mm/16thou so you recon go to 2 thou?

I will see If I can get them to try this tomorrow before I commit to spending more If I dont need too. also when you say remove coils? im still running stock coil packs (shamefully admit dont know what you mean)

Also if the cambelt wasnt tensioned enough would that give jumpy signal?

There are 3 coils inside the CPS most times when you run a standalone you only utilise 2 of them, the 3rd unsed coil is still generating a voltage and this can confuse the issue so you remove it, If the cam tensioner sping is new that's as tight as it needs to be.

2mm is 80 thou not 8

As long as the bearings are good or it's going to rub!

Ran mine this way with the MoTeC to 8300 rpm every time I drove it!

Doubt a cam belt will cause anything like that. its pretty common to have corroded CPS wires on a 7M.

Yep you just need to be careful removing the gear it's no longer available as a service part.

I once chucked one up in my lathe and tweaked it to get an optimum waveform. Not required on the stock ECU but the guy was running something else. I don't recall what.
