There is/was a product called a CarBrella. It was not used for driving but when you want to park somewhere, run inside, and not have to bolt your top back on.

http://www.cstproducts.com/ - James N in CO has one for his 91T

I just checked and they do still list this for both the MkIII and MkIV. $139.95 + shipping.

The CarBrella overhangs the windows as well as the front/back of the opening. Rain rolls off and down and doesn't get inside the car.

I have one of the WeeZlWings targa brackets and plan to just use some light fabric for the Summer and maybe vinyl when it may drizzle. Haven't got to that project yet, but will hopefully be drivin', sportin' the targa-off this Fall.

Figured I'd got to Michael's and pick up some fabric with either velcro or metal snaps to secure it. Mostly to provide shade and keep the interior from getting too hot... especially now that I have the leather seats...whew!

with this design you can drive with it on its made to fold and be light so you dont have to get out of your car and lug your have ass targa around if it starts to rain.
think in time if i got some spare cash to burn im gonna buy a top out the junkyard and cut center out over lap with vynal and find a way to get it to fold in to three, sounds risky though

Hum, what horrible pictures. Why would anyone attempt to sell a product online and not take quality pictures is beyond me. My first thought when I see pix on websites like that is the company is not a reputable firm and they are only stealing money OR their product is absolute crap and they don't want people to really see the low quality of the item so they use crappy pictures.

heavy ass targa..?

unless you're weak, then yeah...

it takes me 30 seconds to take the targa out the back, put it on, and tighten down the bolts enough to keep someone from prying it open...

... just wanting to keeping things simple is enuff... It's not like we even have a "temporary" lockdown, like the MKIV has.

It'd really be nice if you can use thin rods, with properties like a camping tent nylon/fiberglass rod, to keep a non-flat structure of the fabric. In my case I have a targa brace that I will always have on when I plan to keep the targa off for awhile. I drove for tooo long without any bracing and ya'll know how that feels..

I have covered parking at work and know that the car is safe. So ,if rain wasn't in the forecast, I'd keep the cover/shade on at work at all day. Simply "roll-it-up" and i'm rolling. No need to pop the hatch, un-do bolts, move stuff around, etc. I used to just let it fall back into the back seat, but that's a PITA at high speeds.

Someone needs to fab-up a bracket that will drop the targa back and hold it place...as it rolls into the back seat. Think of the logos that can put on the shade/cover itself... talk about advertisiting for meet/forum sponsors (hint, hint)

Satan: like the lotus elise has? it could be done pretty easy, but on the elise it's not a structural member, so bracing like yours would be required...
