It'd really be nice if you can use thin rods, with properties like a camping tent nylon/fiberglass rod, to keep a non-flat structure of the fabric. In my case I have a targa brace that I will always have on when I plan to keep the targa off for awhile. I drove for tooo long without any bracing and ya'll know how that feels..
I have covered parking at work and know that the car is safe. So ,if rain wasn't in the forecast, I'd keep the cover/shade on at work at all day. Simply "roll-it-up" and i'm rolling. No need to pop the hatch, un-do bolts, move stuff around, etc. I used to just let it fall back into the back seat, but that's a PITA at high speeds.
Someone needs to fab-up a bracket that will drop the targa back and hold it place...as it rolls into the back seat. Think of the logos that can put on the shade/cover itself... talk about advertisiting for meet/forum sponsors (hint, hint)
