Wiring owns me... I know this is just a easy sbc swap but I decided to get rid of all the extra wiring that isnt needed. So I have stripped the car of all the wiring and de-pinning all the un needed circuits. I had so many that were hot with ign on I didnt want to just cover them over and chance burning the car down.
So far everything still works lol, Im glad I have the factory wiring diagrams to help.

Getting back to the dead thread... Sold the ported 487's, bought a set of Darts SHP 200cc heads with 72cc chambers. Finished the engine off with Harland Sharp rockers, Comp pushrods, Dart SHP intake and made a new set of solid mounts.

Better view of the new mounts... The legs attach to the factory crossmember with 1/2" bolts. A person could easily make the legs 1/2" shorter and use a flat rubber mount bushing (V8 Landrover) and not have to worry about being solid mounted. I still plan to run a poly trans mount just in case.

The guy didn't run them for long. He got tired of screws and interior trim falling off...

I wanted to use the factory rubber mounts but figured they would rip apart eventually. Solid mounts have been used for years in race cars, I should have just used an engine plate instead.

Could always just say that all the shaking is all that Chevy power, if anyone happens to ask... if it doesn't bother you, then why worry about it? It's a MAN car, not some sissified comfy commuter-mobile, right? DAMN STRAIGHT, who's with me? :D

In other news I have finished another set of adapter mounts using the factory rubber mounts. These give 1/2" clearance under the pan and plenty of room to access the bellhousing bolts.

Hey hey now,I'm using an ls :) and I can't agree cause most of my factory parts are better than most gen I aftermarket parts...

Only thing the LS engines have going for them is they have an improved runner design and 15 deg valve angle. Take a Gen 1 engine with 18 deg or less heads and it will stomp a LSx.

Yeah ok....

Stock for stock EVERY SINGLE ASPECT of an LS is an improvement to a SBC....

And this is coming from someone that has owned and built SBC's for 30+ years.

I have stock 799 cast heads and they will compare to most aftermarket gen 1 heads of same cc intake runner and still have a better velocity for street use. Step up to the l92 or ls7 design and then your into bbc flow rates. That's just for the basics. The motors as a whole are just build light years ahead of gen 1 design. I'm not here to bash a gen 1 I'm just saying ls are not as you said over rated. If you took the best gen 1 350 design and an equal ls1 and spent the same amount of money on both I would have to say ls would win hands down. Especially in durability.

I understand that the reason for building a new engines is to improve what you have or redesign to make something better. The LS engines are quite a bit better then the Gen1's. The reason I say its overated is because everyone makes it out to be the best engine going, just like the JZ series engines. Nutswingers. I appreciate that the LS is a great design, but dollar for dollar if it was such a great design why is it that racers still build older style/technology motors.
