Well my plate shifted too, but I talked to the local clutch guy who made me a 6 puck framic disk and he said it's no problem that it shouldn't matter, I don't have the rivets....

You guys absolutely sure it's the cltuch causing the vibrations?

If it shifts, it's no longer in balance. That would not likely be good for that rear most main bearing. It'd be the same thing if your crank wasn't balanced.

I told my buddy about feeling a vibration at low revs after my first run.

Im gunna go check my PP to see if I have the rivets... I was told that when I bought mine, it was before RPS started having problems... *mine has been sitting ina box for a long time* Im not about to go putting this PP on my car with the power I may be making...

My first one shifted years ago. If it doesn't have the bolts with the welded nuts, I would be addressing the issue.

The clutch def causes the problem. Two times I put a stock clutch back in after the diaphragm shifted(and a vibration was present) and the vibration was completely eliminated. Like Al said, it is like having an unbalanced crank.

Well, the place I got the clutch, the rep was trashing RPS one night, and i was like, hold on, is this thing a POS or something, because if it is, I want another clutch before I install this... I went with RPS for the sole reason, its one of the few clutches that has a chance of holding the power I will be making... He said that the one I have is good, and that they fixed the problem... So Im wondering if the one I have has rivets... Im going to the shop tomorrow to mess with the car some, so I will definately be looking at the pressure plate... Thanks for hte heads up, and good post Brent, it has brought this issue to the light, Im sure alot of people didnt know this about the RPS...

but i don't see anything on there to make it unbalanced? there is no weights persay to make it balance up?

Is it possible to get some rivets put in and balanced with out sending to RPS... I'd rather not have to do the whole duty tax thing again on this bullshit i alerady got dinged twice when the originally screwed up my order.

The smaller diaphragm moves to one side of the plate. If it just moved around the perimeter, I'd agree, but sadly it doesn't.

I figured both diaphragms were the same OD, but it seems that's not the case. I hope to have pictures sometime this weekend.

Jake: My particular RPS is from 2003-2004. (If that helps narrow down the year they began the rivets or w/e)

400 miles now on mine, and nothing to report of course.

I'll have to see what it does when I launch it.

Rob: check yours for rivets...

Brent: mine is newer, but I'll still check it out today...

You guys ever have trouble with RPS' customer service, dealing with returns or warranty claims or anything...If I remember corretly, I could swear I read somewhere that they were assholes about returns... The other thing I heard is that RPS doesnt make thier PPs anymore, they have another company that makes them... Any of this true?

reign.. the customer service at RPS is known to be crap. joliroger was hung up on by Rob (the owner) at least once. They like ot blame everything except themselves for any shortcomings. There are a few that can expand on this I'm sure.

I doubt they'll do anything for me.. even when I have one of their high dollar headers.

I've had my clutch for a year, and it's been installed for 9 months or so I'd guess.

Checked my P/P, it has rivets... So I assume thats a good thing...

I hear RPS suxors, but really, what are our options? I mean, for high hp... ACT wont hold it, SPEC doesnt really have anything... So, there's RPS and Tilton... The price difference it ridiculous, not to mention the custom work needed to make the Tilton function with the R154... Its sad really... But the fact is, one of these companies NEEDS to step up for us, because every day we are proving that the 7M MKIIIs are making more and more power, competing even with the "mighty" 2JZ motors... We need OPTIONS... We have none really...

X-man: the highest torque for the R154 is 575... Price is nice... But, 575tq? Duane made 690tq on his RPS/6puck before it slipped... Of course, the MKIV, once again, they get the clutch that holds 775tq... *bastards* ;)

Poodles: OS Giken makes a multiplate for the R154? Does it have to have the same modifications as the Tilton to work?

well, it does need to be converted to push type, but they sell a kit to do it last I knew...

it's also much cheaper...

IJ would know more on this I think though...
